MACEDON: Margaret N. Eaton (Peg) was born Oct. 24, 1923 in Melrose, Mass., the youngest of three daughters of William Josiah Nutter and Miriam Fearing Nutter. She earned a BS in Chemistry from Simmons College and worked in the lab for Eastman Kodak. Peg met James C. Eaton at Kodak and they were married Dec. 20, 1947. Margaret was actively involved in the Macedon Center Grange, the Woman’s Society, King’s Daughters, and the Macedon Center United Methodist Church. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and later became an advisor of a High Adventure Explorer Post. She and Jim took many trips with young people to Philmont Scout Ranch, the Adirondacks and the North Maine Woods. Peg and Jim became affectionately known by the many young people they worked with as Ma and Pa Eaton. When Jim retired, they became involved with Meals-on-Wheels of Wayne County. Predeceased by her parents; sisters Carolyn and Mary and husband Jim. She is survived by her children; Carolyn (Leslie) Bridgewater, James (Barbara) Eaton, Kenneth (Shari) Eaton and Ruth Ann (Keith) Morris; grandchildren: Melanie Davila, Alex Mordas, Nicholas James Bridgewater, Seth Eaton, Kristin Eaton, Mark Morris, Scott Morris, Dan Morris, Matthew Eaton, Kenneth Eaton, and eight great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Sat., July 27 (NOTE DATE) at the Macedon Center United Methodist Church followed by a reception. NEWARK: Terry S. Vitaro, 80, died Sunday (May 19, 2019) at his home. Terry was born on February 10, 1939 in Newark, the son of the late Anthony P. and Clara Menna Vitaro. He was a 1956 graduate of Newark High School.  Terry worked twenty years at his dad’s Mobil Station in downtown Newark.  After the gas station closed, he spent the next twenty five years working for the Newark School District in the maintenance and grounds department.  Terry was a member of the Newark Elks Club and the Arcadia Memorial Post VFW. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce; four daughters Christina (Ricky VanWinkle) Vitaro of Newark, Annett (Anthony) Patt of Wolcott, Loretta (Gary Leno) Vitaro of Monvella, AL, and Nicole Vitaro of Newark; twenty-four grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. NEWARK: Fredric J. Familo, 76, died on Friday (May 17, 2019) at Rochester General Hospital. Mr. Familo was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 13, 1943, the son of the late Frederic and Virginia Signorile Familo. In 1977, Rick moved to Newark, New York to own and operate Concord Ford Lincoln Mercury. Working in the car business was a great joy in his life. Rick was an avid golfer and was a member of the Wayne Hills Golf Club. He also was a member of the Newark Elks Lodge #1249. He loved and enjoyed time with his grand-kids. Rick is survived by his wife of 37 years Linda, two daughters Kathleen (Jim) Kellogg of Cicero and Susan Lathrop of Cape Coral, Florida, a son Joseph (Kelley) Familo of Liverpool, seven grandchildren and a brother Edward (Cheryl) Familo of Liverpool. WOLCOTT/NEWARK: John Philip Monje, 68, died Saturday (May 18, 2019) at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital with his family by his side. John was born on October 8, 1950 in Newark, the son of Richard and Joyce Stripp Monje.  Known in the Catskills as “Dutch”, he worked for sister’s Tulikivi business, Mountain Flame of Margaretville, New York for thirty years, with his nephew Jake, as a soapstone fireplace builder.  He was known locally as “RayDarr on Guitar” with Chuck Rocker and the Dirt Bombs. He continued his music adventures in the Catskills with “The Blues Maneuver Band”. John’s greatest passions were bird-watching, fishing and nature photography. John is survived by his loving wife Lynette Hope (Miller) Monje, daughter Cassana Monje and grandson Aza Thorne of Asheville, NC; sisters Sharon (Joseph Lawson) Monje of Prattsburgh, Marcia (Brian) Olenych of Bovina Center, and Jennifer (John) Hurburt of Newark; his nephew and good friend Jake (Jess) Olenych of Arkville, New York; as well  as many other nieces and nephews; he will be missed by many friends. John was predeceased by his parents, his nephew Noah Olenych and his beloved canine friend, Noodle. WALWORTH: Passed away at her home on Tuesday, Mary 21, 2019 at the age of 97. Ruth was born on February 26, 1922 in Webster, NY to the late Earl E. and Elsie “Semmler” Agne. She was also predeceased by her husband Ralph and brother, Arthur Agne.  Survived by her children, Joyce (Howard) Clark of Palmyra, NY, Beverly Flanigan of Ontario, NY, Leona (Donald) Kirby of Newport, NC, Jean (Donald) Gardner of Ontario, NY and Steve (Nancy) Miller of Ontario, NY; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Virginia Zaso of Ontario, NY; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Ruth had a strong faith and was devoted to her family. Although Ruth received some help from her family, she was able to maintain her independence and lived out her life in her own home. She had a love of flowers and enjoyed gardening through the years. She was loved and will be missed by her family and friends. Hunt, Marjorie Farwell

WOLCOTT: Age 89, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2019 surrounded by her family.  She suffered for many years with Parkinson’s disease and macular degeneration. Marge was born at Clifton Springs Hospital on May 4, 1930 to the late Newton E. and Florence Gaylord Farwell. She grew up in Geneva, New York, graduated from SUNY at Albany (then NY State College for Teachers in Albany) in 1952 and married Donald Hunt.  They lived on Lasher Road, Wolcott most of their 65 years together. Marge devoted her life to teaching high school business for over 30 years, retiring from North Rose-Wolcott High School in 1990 as Chair of the Business Department.  She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, International Society for Key Women Educators for 43 years, serving as president for two years and treasurer for many more. She and Don co-owned the Wolcott-Red Creek Pennysaver from 1966 to 1981 and she managed accounting and payroll. She was active in numerous local organizations and devoted many hours to the Retired Teachers Association as well as the Wolcott Lioness Club.  She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed furniture auctions. Marge is survived by her sister Ann Hoffmann of Lawrenceville, NJ; brother David Farwell of Fairport, NY; three daughters, Joanne (Robert) Arnish of Needham, MA; Kathleen (Michael) Lange of Wolcott, NY; Laurel (Raymond) Bennettson of West Hartford, CT; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Her husband Don passed away in August 2018. LYONS: Age 93, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital. Lee was born in Waterloo, NY, on April 22, 1926, the daughter of the late Chester and Ethel (Story) Lash.  She was the longest living member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lyons. She enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and knitting.  After her retirement, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She is survived by her two sons; Robert Manning of Lyons, and John (Anna) Manning of Auburn; 5 grandchildren, Scott, Chelsey, Jason, Jeff, and Justin Manning; sister, Lois (Fran) Warren of Bath; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband Craig who passed away on December 2, 2007, and her brother and sister-in-law Ralph (June) Lash. ONTARIO: Age 89, passed away peacefully in her home at Brown Square Village, Ontario, NY on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Jill was born on May 29, 1929, the second of two children to Gerald and Nellie (Ainsworth) Phelps. After graduating high school, Jill worked on a potato farm where she met John (Jack) Smith who she married on November 4, 1950.  Along with being a loving wife to Jack and mother to their five children, Jill devoted many years of community service to the West Bloomfield area. She served as a girl scout leader, the town historian, town council-woman, and an EMT volunteer. Jill was the first female bus driver hired by the Bloomfield Central School District where she drove for 17 years before retiring. Jack and Jill spent their retirement years living in their home at Black Lake, NY, visiting their numerous children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and traveling in their RV. Jill is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Nellie Phelps, her brother, Jack Mallard, her husband, Jack Smith, and her oldest son John Smith.  She is survived by her sisters, Lynn Skinner, Norine Maslanka, and Cathy Woodard; her brother, Jerry Phelps; her daughters and their spouses, Jean and David Evans, Janet and Ray Bozarth, and Jennifer and Tom Hoyt;  her son and his spouse, Jim and Paula Smith; her twenty grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A memorial service for Jill will be held at West Bloomfield Congregational Church on Sunday, May 26, at 12:30. All are invited to attend. Roy, Richard “Rick” Todd

CHARLESTON,SC/HILTON, NY:  Richard “Rick” Todd Roy died peacefully at home of natural causes on May 7th, 2019 at the age of 58.  He is predeceased by his parents Fred J. and Ruth S. Roy of Rochester, NY. He is survived by 5 brothers; Dave of Hudson, NH, Mike of Richmond, VA, Jim (Wendy) of Ontario, NY, Tom (Mary) of Camillus, NY, Fred (Sharon) of Hamburg, NY; and his stepmother Pam of Greece, NY.  Rick is also survived by 1 uncle, 2 aunts, 8 nephews, 2 nieces, and many cousins and friends. Rick was born on February 20, 1961. He is a graduate of Hilton Central High School and SUNY Brockport, where he received a master’s degree in education. After a long career in Rochester, NY serving as a purchasing manager and warehouse manager, Rick moved to Las Vegas, NV and then to Long Beach, CA to pursue new career opportunities. Upon his retirement, Rick was in the process of relocating to Charleston, SC and looked forward to spending more time with family. Rick loved to travel and has taken trips all over the world to explore other cultures, historical sites, and natural beauty. He has taken many amazing photographs during his travels, which he loved to display in his home along with artifacts from his travels. He is now coming home at the end of his journey. The family will be receiving friends at Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1961 Ridge Road in Ontario, NY (315-524-4621) on Thursday, June 6th from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Roger is survived by his children Tim (Wendy) of Sodus, Terry (Patty) of Land O’Lakes FL, Ted (Michelle) of Land O’Lakes FL and Suzanne (Russ) Brier of Bradenton FL, and several grand and great-grandchildren. NEWARK: Laurie Briggs, 64 a loving mother of two and grandmother of three entered eternal rest on Sunday, May 19, 2019, in her home surrounded by her family. Laurie was born the daughter of Lyle Ensley and Clara May (Vanderbrook) Cuthbert on Friday, July 2, 1954, in Sodus, NY.  She graduated from Sodus Central High School. She later became an LPN and dedicated her life to helping others. Laurie loved gardening, and in the summer she made her yard her masterpiece. Her yard was not only enjoyed by family, but many passing by who would often stop to give compliments. She enjoyed writing, nature, animals, warm summer days and Christmas. Laurie was a collector of fine china and antiques. She was an incredible mother, grandmother and sister with a kind and compassionate spirit. She had a smile and laugh that will be missed by many. Laurie will be remembered by her daughter, Lisa Briggs; son, James Briggs, II; grandchildren, Anthony Wilferth, Sherisse Briggs and Liberty Grady; fiance Thomas Elsenheimer; mother, Clara Jarrett; siblings, Carol Cuthbert, Charles (Terry) Jarrett and Vickie (Larry) Guerra; many nieces and nephews; her special dog friends, Joey, Wrinkles and Tictac. WILLIAMSON: Linda Mae Breckenridge passed away at home on May 23, 2019 at the age of 74. Preceded in death by her parents Douglas and Hilda Breckenridge, sister Carol Breckenridge, and brother Jim Breckenridge.Linda’s life example will be cherished by her surviving family members;  sister Geraldine (Michael) Rothstein, sister Martha Abbott (Tony Ventimiglia), sister-in-law Debra Breckenridge, brother-in-law Arjun Appadurai, nieces and nephews Gregory Abbott, Monica (Brian) Cobbs, Alok Appadurai, Kari (Mark) Shipman, Bryce Breckenridge, Jaclyn Abbott, Sara Breckenridge, Holly Abbott (Peir Morrison), Megan (Adrian) Brisco, Amanda (Jeremy) Zink, and 16 grandnieces and grandnephews. Linda loved teaching children and taught with enthusiasm for over 30 years at Sodus Primary School. She was highly committed to each student’s well-being and helping them to develop the skills to read.  Physical challenges and structural obstacles did not deter her from attending college. She attained a degree in Elementary Education in 1968 from Roberts Wesleyan College. WILLIAMSON: Died Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Strong Memorial Hospital, at age 80.  Kathleen was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, cousin, and friend. She is predeceased by her daughter Michelle, husband Robert, mother Marjorie, father John, and cousin Gary. Kathleen leaves behind her children Daniel (Lynne), Lisa Calabresi, Lauren Pankewytch, and Robert Jr. (Debbie); seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters and brothers; several cousins, and many dear friends. A graveside service will be held on (Saturday) June 8, 2019 at 11am at Lake View Cemetery in Pultneyville, followed by a celebration of life at the Pultneyville Fire Hall. LYONS: Patricia Ann Hand, a long-time resident of Lyons, died Saturday the 25th of May peacefully at home at the age of 82. Born in 1936 in the Township of Galen, NY, Patsy was the second youngest of 17 children born to Joseph Hand and Daisy D. Baker/Hand/Voorhees. She was the only child born in the hospital! Patsy’s early career was spent in quality control and later in life, she worked home-care. Patsy spent a number of years travelling the world and helping to take care of her grandchildren. Patsy always opened her heart and her door for anyone who needed a place to stay or food in their belly. She loved to sit at the kitchen table, have a cup of coffee and talk with friends and family. She always had a smile ready to welcome visitors.  She is survived by her brother, Donald Hand (of Moravia, NY), her daughters, Rhonda Stoughton (of Rogers, TX) and Catherine Aikin (of Lyons, NY), sons-in-law, Michael Stoughton, James Aikin, and Rob Milliman, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and fifty nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Jodi Lynn Brewster, and her youngest daughter, Rebecca L. Kunes/Milliman (of Lyons, NY), her grandson, Jeremy Paul Wilford (of Orlando, FL), and fifteen of her siblings. Showing and funeral services will be at Keysor Funeral Home at 5 Phelps St. in Lyons, NY, 6PM-8PM on Wednesday, May 29, 2019. In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes will be placed with her grandson, Jeremy Paul Wilford, in Clyde NY at St. John’s Cemetery at a later date.

LYONS: Carl Anthony Quagliata, age 90, of Lyons, N.Y., went to be with the Lord, at 6:00 pm, May 25, 2019 at his home, surrounded by loving members of his family. Carl was born on April 12, 1929 to the parents of, Rosario and Anna Costa. He was the youngest of 8 siblings. Carl served in the US Army from 1946-1947. He met his future wife of 69 years, Mac (Mary Alice Caprilla) in 1949. He was a life member of the VFW Post 5092. Carl, a Parishioner, of St. Michael’s Parish for 69 years, attended and participated in men’s retreats. ​Carl was a superior craftsman his entire career. As a Master Mason he completed numerous residential and commercial construction projects throughout New York State. He owned his own Masonry business for most of his career and worked for New York State Psychiatric Center for the last 10 years, from which he retired from in 1991. For the last 28 years, during the winter, Carl and Mac resided in the Sunshine State of Palm Bay, Florida.​ Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Mac; son, Joseph (Cindy) Quagliata, daughter, Tara (Anthony) Pursati, and son, Greg (Cheryl) Quagliata; eight grandchildren, Tiffany (Jeffrey) Cooney, Nicole, Gina, Crystale (Jon) Dunn, Lucas (Sara) Quagliata, Alicia, Chris, Jessica, two great grandchildren, Brady and Lincoln; several nieces, nephews, and friends.​ Carl will be fondly remembered for his God-given wisdom, patience, and generosity. ​He was predeceased by his parents, and siblings: Jenny (Harold) Witt, Salvatore (Almeda) Quagliata, Anna (Bud) Bowler, Joseph (Sophie) Quagliata, Frank (Flora) Quagliata, Gracie Witt, and Lucy Gunnoe. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 4-7 pm at Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William Street, Lyons.  A military funeral will be Friday, May 31, 2019, at 10 am at St. Joseph the Worker/ St. Michael’s Parish, 3 Holley Street, Lyons. ​ Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 3 Holley Street, Lyons, N.Y. 14489 and the Humane Society of Wayne County 1475 County House Road, Lyons, N.Y. 14489.​ Arrangements by Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, Lyons.
