WEST VALLEY: Died Wednesday April 20, 2016 at her home at the age of 87. She was born July 22, 1928 in Bradford, PA a daughter of the late Joseph Elmer and Esther N. (nee Montaque) Little. She was a graduate of Springville Griffith Institute and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, a euchre card club and had served on the West Valley Board of Elections. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Springville and loved homemaking and crocheting. Her husband – Donald MacLaughlin whom she married September 29, 1946 died April 25, 1995. She is survived by her children – Dennis (Janet) MacLaughlin of Ark City, KS, Daniel (Violet) MacLaughlin of Randolph, Sandra (Doug) Franke of Marion, NY, Jim (Debbie) Bradley of Canandaigua; five grandchildren – Eric MacLaughlin, Tara Morrison, Dana Pence, William Bradley, Daniel Bradley; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister – Norma Sebdza, grandson – Scott MacLaughlin and granddaughter – Kelley Jo MacLaughlin. Friends may call Sunday April 24 from 4-8 pm at SMITH-WEISMANTEL FUNERAL HOME, 271 E. Main St., Springville, where funeral services will be held Monday April 25 at 11 am. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, West Valley. buettnerpicCLYDE: Also known as Little John, 66, of Clyde passed away on April 22, 2016 at Newark Wayne Community Hospital. He was a well-known CB Radio technician repairman. He loved his guitars and enjoyed playing and composing songs. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war from 1968 to 1971. John was loved by many and an inspiration to all. He was a proud husband, father and grandpa. He is predeceased by his father I. John Buettner and son John A. Buettner Jr. (1977-1986). He is survived by his loving wife Valerie; mother Patricia DiSanto Spencer; children Sally, Michelle, Julie and Michael of Florida; sister Antoinette Farr; brothers Steve and Alan and 14 grandchildren. DeMasNoraFinalRED CREEK: Age 95 of Red Creek passed away peacefully Friday morning at her home. She was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late Reginald and Lydia Tame Swinyard. Mrs. DeMas was the wife of the late Ralph D. DeMas who died in August of 1989. She was a guidance counselor for the Red Creek School District for many years, retiring in 1974. She traveled extensively throughout the world and the United States. In addition to her travel she enjoyed music, playing the piano, reading and driving her car. Nora loved her community. She lived in Red Creek for over 70 years. She would like to be remembered as a good friend and neighbor. Mrs. Demas is survived by her daughter, Susan and son in-law Michael of Baldwinsville, her grandson Andrew Wrench and great grandson Hunter, her grandson David Wrench and wife Anaiah of St.Augustine, Florida. Nora’s family will always remember her upbeat personality, independent nature and zest for life as well as her kind and loving spirit. At Nora’s request There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Victory Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Becker-Keysor Funeral Home.

thumb_Raj Kachoria_1024PITTSFORD: Dr. Lekhraj “Raj” Kachoria, 78, of Pittsford, NY, died on April 19, 2016. He was born in a small desert town in India, the youngest son of Balkrishan and Rupivi Kachoria. He was the first in his village to make it to medical school and become a doctor, affectionately known to this day by the community as “Dr. Raj.” He completed medical school in India and received an advanced degree in Tropical Medicine in England in 1964. He and his family immigrated to the United States in 1970 and lived in several cities, including Boston where Dr. Kachoria worked at Boston Children’s Hospital as a pediatrician. After moving to Pittsford in 1974, Dr. Kachoria started his own private pediatric clinic in Macedon, NY, where he practiced for more than 40 years before retiring and donating the practice to Thompson Health and the University of Rochester. He also saw patients at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, Rochester General and was a clinical faculty member at the University of Rochester. Dr. Kachoria was active in the Indian community, serving as President of the Hindu Temple of Rochester for more than three years. He was also an avid reader and aspiring poet. A collection of poems and essays are soon to be published posthumously in a 200-page plus volume. He leaves his beloved wife, Bhagwanti, sons Vikram and Naresh, daughter-in-law Carrie and grandchildren, Abby, Ellie and Kellen. He also leaves his sister Ravti, cousins, nephews and nieces. Dr. Raj was preceded by his brother Hotchand. Funeral services were held for Dr. Kachoria on Thursday, April 21 at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services. img535NEWARK: Nancy Jane Blankenberg, 74 entered eternal rest peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at DeMay Living Center. Nancy was born the daughter of the late John and Geraldine (Orbaker) Blankenberg on Wednesday, June 4, 1941 in Newark, NY. She graduated from Phelps High School class of 1959. Nancy retired from Fold Pak where she worked 28 years. She loved to garden, was an amazing cook, loved to knit and crochet. But, her biggest joy was her family. Nancy was a devoted and selfless mother and nana. With a huge heart and an awesome sense of humor. She was loved beyond words and will be missed sorely by all that had the pleasure of having known her. Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Michelle Bassett Garrett; granddaughters Ashley Luna and Samantha (Tim) Austin; great grandson Joshua Arnold; siblings Donna (Herman) Lunser, Judy Blankenberg, John Blankenberg and James (Toni) Blankenberg; many nieces and nephews. NEWARK: Gary Lee Sergent, 69, died Tuesday (April 26, 2016) at his home Mr. Sergent was born October 3, 1946 in Clifton Springs, the son of Martin and Ruth Anna Dreffine Sergent. He had attended Newark High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War. where he earned his GED. Gary had worked at Xerox for a time and for 30 years as senior systems designer and sales rep. for Krapf Business Systems/Magnatag Products. In his retirement, he did maintenance and limo driving at Ashton Place Senior Living in Clifton Springs where he was very well liked by the staff and residents. He had been active with the Clifton Springs Jaycees and the New York Jaycees Association where he was chairman of the family life development program. Gary was a girl scout leader while his daughters were in scouting, at the time the only male leader in the area. June 20, 1987, he married the love of his life and soul-mate Micky. They enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching and woodworking. Making signs and birdhouses were their specialties. At St. Michael’s Church, Gary volunteered for many projects, the rummage sales, the apple pie baking, the summer festival and making and selling his wares in the Woodcraft Shop at the Christmas Bazaars and anywhere else that was needed. He always made special effort to attend his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was a huge fan of the Newark Pilots baseball league and enjoyed going to their games. Gary also loved playing NYS lottery. He was the son of a military man and spent many years in the Virginia Beach area. He developed a love for the beach, hence many vacation were spent at Myrtle Beach. He was a member of the August Mauer Post, American Legion Gary was always known in the community to lend a helping hand and was a friend to everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife Michaela “Micky” Wasson Sergent; children Amy (Andrew) Pieters, Kimbery (Douglas) Groover, Kari Sergent, Erin (Brice) Fisher and step-son Scott (Charlie Ann Camp) Bridger; grandchildren Adam, Kaydee, Nathan, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Hannah, Zoe, Benjamin, Oakley, Hayden and Breanna all of Newark; a sister Joan Faye Sergent a resident of the Wayne County Nursing Home. Gary was predeceased by his father Martin and mother Ruth Anna, his brothers Donald, Robert and David Sergent. Friends may call from 2 – 5 P.M. on Sunday (May 1st ) at the Paul L. EdingerHAMBURG, NY: Died April 24, 2016, age 64, of complications following surgery. Chuck was born March 19, 1952 in Evans City, PA to Harold and June Edinger. His family moved to Palmyra in 1964. He graduated from Pal-Mac in 1970, attended SUNY Cortland; served 2 years in the Marine Corps, transferred to Cornell University, and graduated from Cornell Vet School in 1981. Chuck worked in both large and small animal practices throughout his career. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Jodi, and is survived by his sister, Bonnie (William) Thompson of Staunton, VA and former wife, Sue Bassage, of Sodus Point, NY. Chuck loved to fish and hunt and loved his dogs. Services will be private.
