SODUS: Willard “Sonny’ Waite, Jr, 76, of Sodus passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Rochester General Hospital. He is predeceased by his parents Willard Sr. and Hilda; sisters, Donna and Laura Smith. He is survived by his brothers Jerry (Beverly) Waite, Amos of Watertown; sisters Mary of Canada, Carolyn of Dexter and Janice of Gouverneur; several nieces and nephews. He was chosen by the National VFW as an honorary golden member and contributed to Sodus, Wolcott and Newark VFW. He made many cash contributions in local fire departments in Wallington, Sodus, Alton and Sodus Point. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 10th, 2016 from 2-4pm at Norton Funeral Home, 45 W. Main St., in Sodus. WOLCOTT: Passed away peacefully May 13, 2016 at age 98. Marian was born March 18, 1918 in Marion, NY, to the late Isaac and Elizabeth (Hermenet) Shippers and spent most of her life as the devoted caring wife and mother of 8 children. After retirement, Marian and Charles enjoyed a rather self-sufficient life style on their hobby farm in Wolcott where Charles took care of the larger animals and Marian especially enjoyed caring for the goats, chickens and such. They also they also enjoyed cooking, preserving their produce, baking & making old time goodies for their family. Marian is survived by two brothers, Raymond and Robert Shippers; daughters Sandy Hebblethwaite and Ruth Sabo; sons David, Ronny, Daniel, Robert and Christopher Hebblethwaite. Marian also leaves behind many beautiful memories of the time she spent on the farm with their children’s spouses, 19 grandchildren and many loved nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren. Pre-deceased by her parents Isaac & Elizabeth Shippers; husband of 6 years Daniel Ortiz (1949); husband of 49 years Charles Hebblethwaite (1999); her brothers Melvin, Adrian, Jacob, and Herman Shippers and her son Eliud Hebblethwaite. A memorial service will be held in the South Butler United Methodist Church, Rt 89, South Butler, NY on June 18th at 1pm. FarrellNEWARK: Lettie Amelia (Taylor) Farrell, 101 died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Wayne County Nursing Home. Mrs. Farrell was born the daughter of the late Deroy and Iva (Gannett) Taylor on Wednesday, April 14, 1915 in Newark, NY. She was a Newark High School graduate. Mrs. Farrell was a member of DAR, a member of the Ruth Rebekah Circle at church. She was the oldest member of the First United Methodist Church of Newark, 101 years. Mrs. Farrell was a devoted fan of the NY Yankees baseball and Syracuse Orange basketball. Mrs. Farrell will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Patricia McLaren, Joan McArdle and Anne Farrell; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sister Doris (Wes) Payne; many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Farrell was predeceased by her husband George Farrell in 2004; brother Leon Taylor and sister Helen Walker. Fulfilling Mrs. Farrell’s wishes there will be no prior calling hours. hartmanNEWARK: Robert “Ben” Benjamin Hartman, 25 entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at his home with his loving family by his side. Ben was born the son of Scott R. and Cindy (Witt) Hartman on Saturday, July 17, 1990 in Rochester, NY. He graduated from Newark High School in 2008 and then received his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from Oswego State University. A nick name Ben received in school, “Boomer” stayed with him throughout his life. While in third grade Ben began to play Lacrosse for which he played as goalie, throughout his educational career. He loved to play his guitar and enjoyed country music. Ben was a member of St. Michael Church all his life. Ben will be lovingly remembered by his fiancée Kellie Kubala; son Tucker; father Scott Hartman; brother Luke Hartman; paternal grandparents Robert and Peg Hartman; maternal grandfather Frederick “Fred” Witt; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Ben was predeceased by his mother Cindy (Witt) Hartman on May 26, 2015 and maternal grandmother Sara (Larkin) Witt on May 16, 2010. Van Leeuwen, Cornelis

SAVANNAH: Cornelis J. (Casey) van Leeuwen went to be with the lord June 6, 2016 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Casey was born on October 31, 1935 to Julia and Johannes van Leeuwen in Leiden, Holland and immigrated to the United States in 1949. In 1953 Casey joined the United States Marine Corps, serving in Korea as a Corporal until 1956 as part of the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Division and awarded the Good Conduct medal upon separation. On November 10, 1956 he married Sylvia Starr Gray and was proud to become naturalized Citizen in 1957. Casey was also a member of the United States Army Reserves from 1975 until 1984 serving as SFC Drill Instructor. In 1995 after over twenty years of service he retired as Director of Printing for Wayne County. Casey’s interests were vast. He belonged to the Arthur T. Meehan Post 1343 of the Savannah American Legion, spent many years volunteering at the Wayne County Correctional Facility as part of the Jail Ministry team, fished canoed, enjoyed watching his grandchildren at their sporting events, was honored to be allowed to lead the Clyde Savannah football team in prayer before each game, choral concerts and simply sitting on his porch at the camp he so loved. He will be best remembered locally for his beautiful paintings that hang in many homes and businesses in the area for his and for his vast American Indian relic and artifact collection that he enjoyed digging for with his wife and grandson Christopher. Casey is survived by his daughter Julie; grandchildren Christopher and Kaycee; great grandson Caleb and brother Richard Donselaar. He is predeceased by his wife Sylvia; sisters Julia and Edith; Brother Abraham (Ray) Donselaar. In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 10th, 2016 at 1pm at the Butler Savannah Cemetery on Rt. 89 in Savannah. Committal service will be officiated by Pastors Chris Ball and Derek Loperfido. The family invites everyone to join them at the Arthur T. Meehan 1343 Post on North Main St. in Savannah for a celebration of his life immediately following. Please consider making a donation in his name to any of your local legions and VFWs. PALMYRA : Age 52, of Palmyra, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 7. Tom is survived by his partner of 19 years, Billie Jo Wright; mother, Rosemary (Vern) DeRuyter of Palmyra; father, Lloyd (Joan) Breed of Hudson, Fla.; sister, Linda Breed of Palmyra; brother, Dennis Breed of Palmyra; step-brother Jamie Carter of Florida; Billie Jo’s son, Steven (Dara) Kapano of Arizona, and her grandson, Remi, who called Tom his “papa.” He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and his beloved dogs, Chico, Corky, Chloe, Brutus, Princess, Mac, Molly, Taco, Loretta, Chica, and Doolitttle. He is predeceased by his brother, Terrance Breed and a step-brother, Jody Carter. Tom – known as “Tommy” or “Frog” to family and friends – was employed by Barrington Residential, Inc. of Pittsford. He was a motorcycle and car enthusiast who was especially proud of his Harley-Davidson “knucklehead” and his black Caddy. Years ago he turned heads driving a 1965 Cadillac hearse that he converted for daily use. More recently, he and Billie Jo enjoyed spending time with their dogs cruising the Erie Canal aboard their 20-foot pontoon boat. Tom loved holiday dinners and his mother’s cooking. He inherited her gift in the kitchen, and worked off and on as a cook at local restaurants. He was a laid-back soul who always enlivened family and social gatherings with his humor and infectious laugh. He loved NASCAR, music, and watching the birds in his canalside yard and at favorite spots, including the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge. Family and friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 12 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home at 123 W. Main St. in Palmyra. A funeral service will follow calling at 3pm. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13 at St. Anne’s Cemetery in Palmyra.
