CAYUGA: Died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at age 70, following a brief illness. He was born in Oneonta, a son to Gertrude Crannell and grew up in Clyde. Tom was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a self-employed farmer, working the family farm in Sodus and continued on to agribusiness. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, helping others and maintaining his faith. He was predeceased by a son, Michael, who died in 1995 and by his mother, Gertrude, who died in 2005. Tom is survived by his children, Steven (Carrie) Crannell of Lee, MA and Laura (Ty) Wilkey of Washington, IL; three brothers, Peter (Karen Wilmarth) Crannell of Port Byron, Max (Diane) Crannell of Lyons and Billy Crannell of Newark; two sisters, Sue (Ed) Gryska and Madaline Crannell both of Elmira; six grandchildren, Erin, Aubrey, Brittney, Madison, Harley and Peyton as well as several nieces and nephews. There are no calling hours. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1 DiPronio Drive, Waterloo, NY.
