CLYDE: Age 87, of Waterloo Street, died Sunday (July 17, 2016) at Newark-Wayne Hospital. Meryl was born in Syracuse on June 15, 1929, the daughter of Clyde and Evelyn Watts Wood. Survived by her loving companion of 48 years, Marty Pursati; daughters Linda (David) Bullard of Lyons, Joann (Larry) Dunn of Clyde, Randi (Tom) Goffe of Punta Gorda, Fla., Barbara (Dan) Smith of West Palm Beach, Fla.; sons Mike (Donna) Pursati, of Clyde, Tony (Tara) Pursati of Lyons, Marty Paul (Bea) Pursati of Clyde; brother, Mike Rathbun. Predeceased by sons Jon and Skip; daughter, Betty; sister, Evelyn Webster. LOCK BERLIN: Age 85, died Monday (July 18, 2016) at the Jewish Home, Rochester. Delores was born in Lyons on June 2, 1931, daughter of George and Lizzetta Schmitt McIntyre. She is survived by her son, Charles (Sandra) Gent of Ontario; two daughters, Neda (Jim) Finney of Dry Fork, Virginia, and Sandra (George) Wilson of Rose; sister, Shirley Van Norman of Lyons. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 1999. Burial in South Lyons Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the North Rose United Methodist Church or Jewish Home of Rochester.

Age 74, formerly of Wolcott, went to the arms of her loving God, Sunday, July 17, 2016. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathy Essom, her parents Carolyn and Oscar Carney and one brother, David Carney. Carol is survived by her husband Bernard Skelly, daughters, Deborah and Karen Essom, one brother, Richard (Jean) Carney, four grandchildren, Amy Jo, Jessica,,Jennifer and Jay, three great grandchildren, April, Kevin and Jake, also her many church friends, family members, classmates and faithful Springer Spaniel Jake. Carol taught special education at Monroe # 1 BOCES. She was a master at arts and crafts which she always shared with family and friends. Carol was a wonderful mother and loved her family very much. Carols care for her family and friends was insurmountable. Calling hours are Wednesday, July 27, from 5:00-7:00 at the Becker-Keysor Funeral Home, Red Creek. A funeral service will follow immediately after calling hours at 7:00. Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family. LYONS: Age 91, died July 14, 2016, at Newark-Wayne Hospital. Gertrude was born January 15, 1925, daughter of Robert and Lilly Mae Johnson Moody. She worked at Seneca Foods in Marion and lived at the Lyons Manor. Survived by her companion of 55 years, Lee Nealy; three stepchildren, Danny Morse, Gary Jerome and Fanny Nealy; nephew, Curtis Moody; great-niece, Shenandoah Moody; sister-in-law, Barbara Moody. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday (July 22) at the Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William St., Lyons. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Taylor_003SAVANNAH: Age 19, of Savannah passed away on July 25th, 2016. She was born on February 2nd, 1997 in Sodus to Kelly King and Galvin (Kip) Carr. Taylor was a 2015 graduate of Clyde-Savannah High School where she was a very active athlete. A Varsity swimmer and Softball player for 5 years she served as Captain for both teams. In addition Taylor played Volleyball at the Varsity level for 2 years and went on to play at Cayuga Community College where she was once again voted team Captain. Taylor was awarded All-Star status for all sports. President of the Varsity Club and a Dollars for Scholars volunteer kept her busy in her down time at high school. Taylor worked at the high school as a summer aide and life guard. She also was a life guard at the YMCA in Auburn. Presently she worked as a bus girl at Skippers Landing. As an organ donor Taylors gift will bring hope and life to someone in need. She is survived by her parents Kelly Rice (King) and Galvin (Kip) Carr; maternal grandparents Theresa and Gary King; paternal grandparents Sandra and Galvin (Dutch)Carr; great grandmother Laura Carr; brothers and sisters, Collin, Chelsea, GP, Dylan, Logan, Lexus; best friend Christopher Dean; many aunts and uncles; several cousins, nieces and nephews. PHELPS, FORMERLY SODUS: Passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the age of 90. Harry was born October 20, 1925 in Lyons, NY. Harry was predeceased by his parents, Classon (Harry) and Anna (Holtz) Featherly, brothers; Carl and Robert, sisters; Julia Bliek, Margaret Krouse and Anne Henry. He is survived by his sister Thelma Havert of Painted Post and many nieces and nephews. Harry worked every day at the Geneva Day Treatment up until he was hospitalized. He loved his job and his many friends there. Harry loved to work in the garden. He spent many hours on the back porch watching the birds. He enjoyed watching the old western movies and the monster truck rallys. Harry was an enormous fan of the Buffalo Bills. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. At the request of the family there will be no calling hours. Graveside service and burial will be held on Monday, August 1 at 2pm at the Elmwood Cemetery in Lyons, NY. SODUS: Age 72, of Sodus, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at the Newark Wayne Memorial Hospital, Newark, NY. Born in Columbus, NY on May 17, 1943, Butch was the son of the late Clifford and Grace Hotaling. Raised in Columbus, he made his home in Sodus, NY for the past 20 years and had previously lived in Rochester. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for the Operator’s Union, Syracuse, NY. For the past 15 years, he was proud to call himself a gentleman farmer as he raised cash crops and hauled apples to various locations. He is survived by his sons, Dale (Susan) Harrington, of Windsor, NY, Gregory (Valerie) Hotaling, of Cincinnatus, NY, and Bradley (Dawn) Hotaling, of Pitcher, NY. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Danielle (Joe) Grasser, Nick (Lindsay) Harrington, Lane Copitts, Zachary (Nellie), Jesse, Keaton, and Megan Hotaling; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Shayla, and Jake Grasser, Mackenzie and Madelyn Harrington, and Chase Patrick Hotaling; his siblings, Marion Meyers, Irene Izard, Lester Hotaling, Anna Senn, and Ruth (Richard) Horton; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his wife, Arlene Hotaling, and a brother, Edward Hotaling. A private graveside service will be held followed by a public time of remembrance at Norton Park, Columbus, NY, on Saturday, August 7, 2016 at 11:30 a.m.

She follows her husband of 52 years, a fellow schoolteacher and Lyons resident, Richard “Nick” Nicholson. Born on September 22, 1923 in Rochester, NY, Irma was the daughter of Batista Cunico and Mary (Manea) Cunico. She is survived by her sons, her brother Reno of Orlando, FL, her daughter-in-law Elaine Thorndike (wife of Rick) and her four grandchildren.
