Predeceased by her husbands: Myron Whitcomb and Jacob Bushart; sister and brother in law: Nellie and Anthony Pizzutos; parents: Adrian and Tannetje Zonneville. She is survived by Evanthia Hill, Anthony and Michael Trangaris; devoted, “adopted family”: Jim and Judy Nortier. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on her 100th birthday, NOTE DATE: (Sunday) September 25, 2016 at 1 pm at the First United Presbyterian Church of Sodus. Private burial in Sodus Rural Cemetery. Finnie, Doris Louise

FinnieSODUS: Age 88, entered eternal rest on August 1, 2016, after battling a brief illness. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Doris was born to the late Fay and Matie Wideman; a Methodist minister and a homemaker respectively, in Greece, NY on September 20, 1927. She was immersed in the Christian community that would be her lifelong support from an early age. She learned how to play the organ and starting at age 16, she would serve God with her organ music at Methodist churches in Youngstown, Ohio; Buena, NJ; Walkertown, N.C.; and spent most of her years playing at the Alton United Methodist Church, Alton, NY; culminating in over 70 years as a church organist. She played the organ most recently for the Christmas Eve Service this past December. During her time at the Alton Church, she also served as President of the United Methodist Women’s Society and as a Sunday School Teacher. Doris was devoted to her family and will be dearly missed. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard Finnie and her brother, Royce Wideman. She is survived by her three children; Rick Finnie of Illinois, Debra (Richard) Mathews of Sodus, and James Finnie of Sodus; three grandchildren; James Richard Finnie of New Jersey, Paige Finnie of New Jersey and Jason (Alexandra) Mathews of Rochester; and one great granddaughter, Lillian Mathews. She is also survived by her brother, Robert (Dottie) Hicks of Fairport, brother-in-law, Gerald (Alice) Finnie of Georgia and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, August 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Norton Funeral Home in Sodus, NY. Funeral service will be Thursday, August 4 at 11 am at the Alton United Methodist Church, Old Ridge Road, Alton, NY. Interment will follow at the Alton Cemetery. Marvin was predeceased by his wife Arlene of 74 years just 30 days prior, along with his brothers and sisters, and his son-in-law Bruce Miller. He is survived by his children, Linda Miller, Sandy (Ray) Shrader, Gerald (Norma) Eidman, Nancy (Warren) Simms; grandchildren; great grandchildren. Deborah was born on November 21, 1949 in Clifton Springs, NY to the late Clarence and Ruth “Kommer” Hanagan. Deborah is predeceased by her sister Linda Scheik and brothers, Thomas and Stephen Hanagan. She is survived by her sons Adam and Raymond Rood; brothers, Donald (Silvia) Hanagan, Lowell (Betty) Hanagan, Terry (Pat) Hanagan; sisters, Helen Sadler, Sheila (Bruce) Geldof; sisters-in-law, Carol Hanagan and Nancy Lynch. 57a32971a841b PALMYRA: Died on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the age of 89. Ethel Mae was born in Spencer, WV on January 9, 1927 the daughter of Ott and Carrie Chambers Boatwright. After moving to Palmyra in 1963 Ethel Mae quickly became a familiar face in the community. She served as village clerk from 1980 to 1991. In her official duties Ethel Mae was known to be kind to anyone with business with the village. Ethel Mae is better known however for her unofficial role as “Palmyra’s First Lady” and affectionately “The Bag Lady of Palmyra,”, a title she received for her dedication to picking up trash and cans around the village and donating proceeds to those in need. Ethel Mae was an elder and deacon of Western Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Historic Palmyra and for several years wrote human interest stories for the Courier Gazzete and Courier Journal. In 1992 Ethel Mae was honored as the Canaltown Days Parade Grand Marshall. Perhaps Ethel Mae’s most endearing trait is her habit of writing notes, sending clippings or cards and otherwise remembering the countless hundreds of people she considered friends. Ethel Mae is survived by her sons Paul, Charlie (Desi) and Neil (Kay) Johnson; brother George Boatwright and grandchildren Matthew and Kaitlyn Johnson. She is predeceased by her sister Oleta Merle; brother William Boatwright and niece Connie Stone. Family and friends are invited to call from 4-7pm on Sunday, August 7 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 W. Main Street, Palmyra. Committal prayers will be offered at 9:30am on Monday, August 8 at Palmyra Cemetery. PALMYRA: Died on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the age of 95. Floyd was born on March 22, 1921 the son of Winfield and Cora Horton Bavis. He was a member of St. Patricks Church and enjoyed woodworking, camping and fishing. Floyd is well known for his collection of Cuckoo Clocks which he built, created, repaired and collected A recipient of the Bronze Star, Floyd was a life member of the James R. Hickey American Legion Post 120 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6778. The funeral home proudly flies the United Sates Army flag in honor of Floyd’s service to our country during WWII. Mr. Bavis is survived by his wife of 70 years Geraldine; daughters Kathleen (Herb Kane) Bavis, Jaqalyn (John) Condie, Bonnie Olson and Betsy (Terry) Goodwin; sons Thomas (Ann) and Gary Bavis; several grand and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Jim Palladino.
