WALWORTH: Monday, September 5, 2016. Born May 27, 1932 and died at the age of 84. Predeceased by his parents, W. Irving and Ochle Fosdick Walz; sister, Marjorie (Peter) Hamelink. He leaves his loving wife, Pauline Mintz Walz; daughter, Jacqueline (Brian) Campbell; son William (Donna) Walz; grandson, Samuel Campbell; step-grandchildren, John, Lauren and Megan, sister-in-law, Peggy Dixon; nephews, Charles (Deborah) and Jeff Hamman. Donald was a farmer all of his life. He was a 70 year member of the Lincoln Grange and a 25 year volunteer fireman at Lincoln Fire Dept. Friends may call 4-8 Sunday at Willard H. CLYDE: Age 86, died Sunday, September 4, 2016, at Newark Wayne Community Hospital. Mrs. Mead was born in Auburn, New York on May 19, 1930, the daughter of Arthur and Ora Bailey Dixon. She was a graduate of Port Byron High School. In 1951 she married Searle “Red” Mead. Gerry worked at the NDC in Newark. She started as a cook and later became a housekeeper at the Cobblestone campus on Vienna St. She retired in 1987. Gerry was a past member of the Clyde Grange and the Clyde Rebecca Lodge. With her husband “Red”, she enjoyed participating in the senior citizen groups of Rose, Port Byron and Savannah. Mrs. Mead had been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clyde. She is survived by her husband Searle “Red” Mead of Clyde, a son William of Galen two grandchildren Jennifer ( Luke) Juby of Sodus and Jason (Emily) Coleman of Marion, a niece Carolyn Lawrence of North Carolina and a nephew Larry Ayers of Kentucky. She was predeceased by her daughter Patti Coleman in 2009, her daughter-in-law Barb Mead in 2015, two sisters and a brother. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Troop Cemetery. PALMYRA: Age 92, died on Wed., Sept. 7, 2016. Wilda had worked for Garlock in Palmyra for 44 years. She enjoyed crocheting and other crafts and took special pride in her flower gardens. Wilda is predeceased by her parents Fred and Viola Hess Payne; her sisters Winniefred Trowbridge and Eleanor Winburn; brothers Olan and Clifford Payne; niece Yolanda Trowbridge; nephews Roy Trowbridge Jr., Fred Payne and Thomas Winburn and very good friend Bruce Green. She is survived by her sister Ruth Wilbur; nieces and nephews Frederick Trowbridge, Katrinka Contant, Walter Trowbridge, Donovan Payne, Deborah Clark, Gary Payne, Robert Winburn, Mary DeCann, James Winburn, Kenneth Winburn, Timothy Wilbur, Clifford Payne Jr. and Ralph Payne; brother-in-law Roy Trowbridge and sister-in-law Helen Payne. PORT GIBSON: Dennis Andrew Powell, 67, died on Wednesday evening (September 7, 2016) at his home. Mr. Powell was born on June 25, 1949 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Clayton and Barbara Miller Powell. He was a member of the Newark Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Dennis had own and operated Red Suspenders Computers in Newark for thirteen years. Prior to owning his business, he was chief financial officer for Wayne County Action Program, a bookkeeper and printer for Wayne County Extention Service. He is survived by his wife, Lucille, daughters Alara Powell of Phelps and Naomi (fiance Thai Pham) Powell of North Brunswick, NJ; his mother Barbara Powell of Wolcott; his siblings Kathaleen Wiggins of Wolcott, Mary (Steve) Macaluso of MA, Joyce Aulenbacher of Penfield, Mardy Farrier of Rochester, Frei Donoghue of Rochester, Howard (Judy) Powell of VA, Bruce (Susan) Powell of SC, Michael (Maryanne) of Alton, Dorothy (Arthur) Barber of Sodus and Ruth (Michael) McGee of NB; numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by four children, Norman, Deborah Davis, Christine, and Pamela Chartrand, Son-in-Law, James Huurmann, 8 Grandchildren (Norman J Soucy, III, Jeffrey Gammill (Tarah), Kevin Gammill (Priscella), Meghan Seibert ( Greg), Matthew Davis, Kimberly Nortier (Matthew), Ashley Helfer (Paul), Chanel Chartrand and 9 Great-Grandchildren. Norman is survived by his Brothers Donald (Rosalind) of Spring Hill, FL, Ronald (Joan) of Webster, NY and Richard of Spring Hill, FL and Sister Jean (Ed) of Rochester,NY. He was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Helena, brother Frederick Jr. and sister Velma (Wright). A celebration of his life was made at the Macedon Center Gravesite on August 14, 2016.

Alice was born the daughter of the late Alvin and Ruth (Phelps) Young on Sunday, November 1, 1936 in Gloversville, NY. She was a graduate of North Rose High School class of 1955. Alice helped out on the family farm she and her husband owned. She enjoyed babysitting, baking and most of all spending time with her family. Alice was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church. Alice will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 60 years and caregiver Lloyd Durham; children Kris (Beth) Durham, Lori (Jeff) LeCuyer and Michael (Michelle) Durham; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; brothers Robert (Janet) Young, William (Ellen) Young and Richard (Lois) Young; sisters Doris Wilson, Mary Humbert and Jane (Donald) Humbert; many nieces, nephews and friends from her church. jim-pictureSODUS POINT: James C. DenDecker, 77 entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Leo Center at St. Ann’s Home. James was born the son of the late William and Dorothy (Soliman) DenDecker on Tuesday, October 11, 1938 in Newark, NY. He was a graduate of Newark High School, class of 1956. Jim had a passion for motorcycles and sports cars. He and his wife enjoyed traveling by train across the US and Canada. Jim’s primary trade was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the International Operating Engineers local 832 for over 30 years. His interest in heavy equipment began as a teenager working with his father, clearing snow from the stretch of tracks between Weedsport to Palmyra, NY for the NY Central Railroad. Jim was a master carpenter and along with his father built the Rail Tavern on Murray Street in Newark. After his father’s death in 1969, Jim and his wife Vivian purchased the Rail from his mother and operated the bar for several years. From 1985 – 2011, he and his wife owned and operated the “Carriage House Inn”, an award winning bed and breakfast in Sodus Point, NY. Voted by their guests as the #1 B&B for the “Most Hospitality” in 2005 and #1 Bed and Breakfast in North America by Arrington Inn B&B magazine in 2006. Jim and Vivian have lived in Sodus Point for 37 years. During the restoration of the historical old lighthouse, Jim donated his time to regrade the surrounding lighthouse land area that is now the park. George Arney, the Supervisor for the Town of Sodus, contacted Jim and turned over the keys of the town bulldozer, to regrade the land. Jim was a member of the Newark VFW, Newark American Legion, Lyons Rod and Gun Club and St. Michaels Church in Newark. The funeral home proudly flies the Army Flag in honor of Jim’s service to our country. Jim will be greatly missed by his high school sweetheart, Vivian (Goodman), who he has been married to for the last 55 years; sister Carolyn (Tom Frett) DenDecker of Florida, nieces Debbie (Kozlowski) Bond and Tammy (Kozlowski) Gullo; nephew Glen House; special friend Maggie, his dog. James was predeceased by his sister Donna (DenDecker) House. Fulfilling Jim’s wishes there will be no prior calling hours or Funeral Service. Family will greet friends at a graveside service on Tuesday, September 13, at 1 p.m. in Fairville Cemetery located just west of Route 88 on Fairville Maple Ridge Road. WOLCOTT: Age 89, passed away on September 9th, 2016 at Clifton Springs Hospital. She was born on August 3, 1927 in Norfolk, NY to the late Andrew & Irene Pocsi Kocsis. She graduated from Norfolk High School in June of 1945 as Valedictorian then graduated from St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY in 1949. While at St. Lawrence, Irene was President of the Dean-Eaton Hall and Vice President of WSGA and was “tapped” to Kalon. She taught 8th grade social studies at Red Creek, NY and retired in 1986. Irene was a very active member of the Catholic Community of the Blessed Trinity, her book club, pizza group and the Forever Young Seniors. Irene enjoyed the many trips that she and Gordon took to the Coast of Maine. She was very blessed to have a wonderful family, neighbors and friends. Irene is predeceased by her parents; husband Gordon and brother Steve. She is survived by sister Margaret Yaeckel; daughter Susan (Andrew) Sheppard; son William (Betty) Bidwell; grandchildren Tracy (Samuel) Beavers, Julia & Eric Bidwell; step grandchildren, Julia, Michael (Ashley) Sheppard; 6 nieces and a nephew. He was a member of Union # 46 and employed for 25 years as a sheet metal mechanic for ANCOMA, Inc. in Rochester. Billy was a huge Buffalo Bills fan, but most important to him was his family. Emerson was a graduate of Clyde-Savannah School and he attended Finger Lakes Community College. He was a Certified Nursing Assistant employed at Seaside Health & Rehab in Daytona Beach, Florida and prior to that he worked at Newark Manor in Newark, NY. PALMYRA: Died on Tuesday, September 13, 2106 at the age of 78. Roger was born on March 31, 1938 in Rochester the son of Floyd and Berniece Reichard Cabic. He was a graduate of Alfred Tech and was the proprietor of Fairport Florist. Roger and the former Karen Minzenmayer were married on February 1, 1964 in Our Lady of Mercy Church in Rochester. Roger was a United States Equestrian Steward and had served as treasurer of the New York State Horse Breeders Association. He was a past president of the Fairport Chamber of Commerce. Roger is survived by his wife Karen; daughter Judy (Jay) Harding; son Daniel (Favor) Cabic; sister Elaine Hosmer and grandchildren Megan and Matthew (fiance Cassie Donoghue) Harding and Dylan and Dawson Cabic.
