PORT GIBSON: May, 84, died peacefully on Fri., Dec. 23, 2016. Charlotte was born on Sept. 14, 1932 in Baltimore, MD the daughter of Charles J. and Madeline Kafer McNeill. Charlotte and Robert Yost Sr. were married on May 30, 1959 in the Port Gibson United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Port Gibson United Methodist Church and a member of the James R. Hickey American Legion Post 120 Auxiliary. Mostly mom was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose greatest pleasure came from making sure everyone was cared for. Charlotte was predeceased by her husband Robert L. Yost Sr. in 2005. She is survived by her daughter Janet (Pete) Crooks; sons Robert L. (Andrea Creary) Yost Jr. and James R. Yost and Samuel Cicero; brothers-in-law Roger (Betty) and Richard (Mae) Yost; grandchildren Samantha (Jeff) Grass, Mathew Yost, Nathan (Sandra Ulloa) Yost, Heather (Ryan Genovese) Dyer, Jason Caster, Colleen Northrup, Cynthia Crooks; great-granddaughter Alexis Grass and several other great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. NEWARK: Lois Jean Lyon, 96, died on Thursday (December 22, 2016) at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. Lois was born on August 5, 1920 in Newark, the daughter of the late William and Mary Craine Lyon. She was a communicant of St. Michael Church and graduated from Newark High School in 1938. Lois was a long time secretary at the Commerical Building of C.H. Stuart, retiring in 1981. She is survived by a niece Bridget (Fred) Swartz of Parish, New York and several cousins. Lois was predeceased by her twin sister Doris Lyon in 2004 and a brother Howard Lyon. All services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Port Gibson Cemetery. Monahan, Joseph B. Sr.

NEWARK: Joseph B. Monahan, Sr., 95, died Saturday (December 24, 2016) at the Newark Wayne Community Hospital. Mr. Monahan was born on March 31, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Bernard and Anna Zygmund Monahan. He graduated from Smithtown High School on Long Island in 1939. Joe was an navigator in the US Army Air Corp during World War II. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre in the battles of India Burma, Central Burma, the China offensive and defensive receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross and four Bronze Stars. Joe was a retailer in sporting goods, ending his working career as a store manager of a Modell’s Sporting Goods Store. Shortly after the death of his second wife, he moved to Newark in 1994. He was a devoted dog lover. Joe and Nicholas, his cocker spaniel, could be seen daily taking their rides. He as a communicant of St. Michael’s Church and, for many years, trained the altar servers. He also was the altar server at daily Mass until his most recent illness. He is survived by his children Joseph, Jr. (Jane) of Newark, Mary Kathryn (Edmond) Landy of Suffern; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his wives Mary Jane in 1977 and Lee in 1992; a grandson Thomas in 1984; a brother Bernard and sister Mary Noonan.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday (December 28th) at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Colburn, Elizabeth Foley “Beth”

Ontario: Passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016. Elizabeth “Beth” Colburn decided her work here was finally completed and it was time to move on to her next calling. Her 94 years on this earth were dedicated to the education, nurturing and enjoyment of all those she came in contact with. Her devotion to her family was a life long mission that took priority over all of life’s challenges and a task she always handled with an understanding smile, warm hug, inspiring words of encouragement and unwavering confidence that good will come (provided you add a healthy dose of prayer). Beth was a graduate of Ontario High School and Michigan State University. She spent much of her Professional career as a Home Economics teacher at Wayne Central Schools before retiring in 1973 to enjoy the summer in the Thousand Islands and winters in Sunny Florida. The journey was always punctuated with new friends developed through her innate ability to with people of all kinds, ages and backgrounds. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Robert D. Colburn. She will be greatly missed by her children; David (Linda) Colburn of Ontario and Loren (Cindy) Colburn of Liverpool; seven grandsons and six great grandchildren.

CLIFTON SPRINGS: Richard William Werner, 81 entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Dick was born the son of the late Frank and Catherine (Sheldon) Werner on Saturday February 16, 1935 in Rochester, NY. He was a Monroe High School graduate class of 1953. As a security guard, he worked for Eastman Kodak Co. in Rochester. Dick was predeceased by his daughter Barbara Jean Werner and several siblings. Dick will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 37 years, Ann (Meehan) Werner; son Dick Jr. (Donna) Werner; daughters Taffy Carroll (Pat Tripp) and Rhonda Werner; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; step-son David Phillips; step-daughters Barbara Phillips and Patricia Collins (Richard Sobel). NEWARK: Age 84, a resident of The Terrace Assisted Living facility of Newark, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016. Earl was born in Victory, the son of the late Lester Heck and Oneita Schumaker Heck. He served in the US Air Force in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a dairy and fruit farmer with his father and brother at their farm in Sodus. He also had a great love for fishing, square dancing and bingo. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Wallace Heck, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and the wonderful residents and staff at The Terrace. He is predeceased by his first wife and square dancing partner Shirley Noble and his brother Melvin Heck.
