SODUS: Passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at the age of 30 after a tragic automobile accident. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents William and Laura Knepp and paternal grandmother Shirley Woodhams. Thomas is survived by his son Ryland, mother Ellen Masser, father Richard Pizzo, paternal grandfather Hartley Woodhams, Sr., brother Anthony (Megan) Gardner, sisters Jaclyn (Joe) Rodriguez, Laura (Matt) Mauldin, Amanda (Jason) Masser, twin sister Tania Knepp, nieces and nephews Gavin, Zakary, Paige, Julie, Cole, Katie, Audra, Koda, Colton, Annabella, Maddison and an abundance of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that held a special place in his heart. Friends from near and far were in no short supply for T.J. He had a full heart and was always willing to give no matter how little he had. His richest moments included time with his son, fishing with his Unk, and the pride he put forth in his work. Gone too soon but he lived life to its fullest every day and enjoyed the many opportunities to spend time with family & friends. His smile will live on in our hearts and he will be missed greatly. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main St., Sodus, NY. VICTORY: Age 104 passed away peacefully, Friday December 23, 2016. She was a lifelong resident of Victory, NY. Born April 29, 1912 to her parents August and Edna Wiestner. Gladys was predeceased by husbands Emery Bailey and Howard “Skip” DeMass, brother Carl Wiestner, sister Frances Kreiger, daughter-in–law Catherine Bailey, and grandson Scott Bailey. Surviving is a son Donald Bailey (Barb) of Victory, NY and a daughter Mae (Tom) Duggan of AZ; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her step families, extended families, and friends. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family after the holidays. SODUS, NY/ N. ANDOVER, MA: Age 84, of North Andover, MA passed away on Dec. 27, 2016 in North Andover, MA. Jean Margaret (Palmer) Hopkins was born in Auburn, New York to Roy Palmer and Doris Pitcher on Jan. 1, 1932. She went to high school at Sodus High School and graduated in 1949. She went on to earn a BS degree in Education with Honors from University of Cincinnati in 1971. She worked as an elementary school teacher for Taylor Elementary School in Cincinnati, Ohio for many years before retiring to Florida. She found a passion for running later in life, ran dozens of road races, and competed in the Senior Olympics. In retirement, she loved to square dance, watch the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team and travelled to Europe, including Spain, which she particularly loved, since she wanted to be a Spanish teacher. Jean is survived by her sons, Bradford and his wife, Carol of Oakton, VA, Hal and his wife, Patricia, granddaughter, Claire, grandson, Kelsey, of Boxford, MA, Blair and his wife Suzan, of Elliston, MT. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 2-4PM at the Norton Funeral Home, 45 West Main St., Sodus, NY, where the funeral service will also be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 10AM with Pastor Eugene Dewispelaere of Alton United Methodist Church officiating. SYRACUSE: Chuck passed away on December 23, 2016. He was 79 years of age. He is survived by his sister Kathleen (Les) Blauvelt of Sodus Point, his brother James, nephew Patrick Russell (Diane) and extended family and friends. Chuck was emplooyed for 35 years by the East Syracuse-Minoa School, from which he retired on July 1, 1996 as Reading Specialist. Chuck served several Protestant churches in Syracuse as organist and choir director. He was predeceased by his parens, Charles and Roberta Gallagher and sister-in-law Judy Gallagher. At his request, there will be no public calling hours or services His body has been donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at Upstate Medical University. WALWORTH: Passed away Dec. 27, 2016 (born 1914) joined husband Lester (deceased 1998) and youngest son David (deceased 2004). Helen’s sharp wit, bright blue eyes and steady charm will be missed by her loving family and hundreds of friends. Highly creative, Helen’s gifts spanned the arts. Her talents included painting, cross-stitch, piano and keyboard, doll-making, woodcarving, dollhouse construction, and the world’s best pie crust. Hundreds of hospitalized children were warmed by the blankets she crocheted and donated up until the last years of her long, productive life. For many years, Helen was executive secretary to Howard Samuels CEO of Kordite (Mobil Chemical). She and Les celebrated their retirement in 1974 and began a happy, active life in Ellenton, Florida. Helen is survived by sons Robert J Stanton (Mary) and Paige L Stanton (Karen); seven grandchildren; John R Stanton (Lyn), Harry C Stanton (Jennifer), Julie Stanton-Schwartz; Tim Stanton (Becky), Jim Stanton (Denise), Penny Pierce (Dan), Jackie Fox (Robert) and Dawn Stanton VanDamme (Sigmund). She was the proud great -randmother of fourteen and great-great grandmother to three.
Special thanks from the family to caregiver Sharon Peets, whose loving support was a mainstay in Helen’s later life. Donations may be made in Helen’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. He retired from NYS Waterways on the Canal in Lyons. Previously he worked for Xerox in Webster for many years. He loved to tinker, work on cars and was a member of the Red Creek Fire Department. Predeceased by his son, Rodney, brother, Lloyd and sister, Joyce Ingelston. He is survived by daughter, Penny (Bret) Hayes of North Rose; son, Brian (Diana) Gardner of Wolcott; 9 grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew, Elijah, Haley, Christian Aron, Jessica, Brittany and Kyle; great-grandchildren, Mallory, Kingston, Noah, Elias, Braxton and Maddox; life partner, Sandra Metler and her family; 3 siblings, Clifford Gardner, Jr. of Wolcott, James Gardner of Red Creek and Sharon (George) Barlow of Fulton; several nieces, nephews and cousins. LYONS: Age, 30, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on December 30, 2016. Irene was born a miracle baby to Roger and Barbara on June 21, 1986. She had several open heart surgeries and various health issues leading to congestive heart failure.
Irene was recently pursuing her GED. She had a heart of gold and was a friend to everyone she met. She loved her family, friends and her pets. She is survived by her grandmother Ethel Wright, her father Roger Bates, her sister Angel (Adam) Rohnke, her life long partner Jake Hill and her beloved nephew Oren Rohnke, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Irene was predeceased by her mother Barbara, grandfather Arthur and her uncle Larry.
Family and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Thursday, January 5th from 11am to 1pm at the Norton Funeral Home at 13081 West Church St., Savannah, NY. The funeral service will be immediately following the calling hours at 1 pm. Internment will be at the Fairville Cemetery located in Fairville, NY where she will be laid to rest next to her mother.

Idella was born the daughter of the late Grover and Mary (Burns) Jones on Wednesday, August 10, 1927 in Spencerport, NY. GORHAM/MIDDLESEX: Age 87, died Jan. 1, 2017. Bob was the son of the late Jay and Thelma (Button) Detro. He grew up in Gorham. Bob was married to Florence Northrup for 30 years. Bob “grew up” in the family’s garage, and he liked auto mechanics; and especially liked Volkswagons. A man of many talents, Bob had worked for the Lehigh Valley Railroad, and as an electrician and a telephone lineman. He was retired from the NYS DOT in Canandaigua. Bob liked to paint and refinish furniture. He was known for trimming and tying grapes at local vineyards. Bob loved to garden and had the most beautiful red rosebush in Middlesex. People used his roses for proms and weddings. Bob is survived by four children, Douglas, Catherine, Daniel and Glenn Detro; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Marjorie McCall and Barbara Scaletta; 1 brother, Richard (Bonnie) Detro; and several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Detro; niece, Susan Detro Holbrook; and friend, Florence Northrup Detro. Bob’s family thanks his DeMay and Terrace caregivers for keeping him smiling, busy and making his blue eyes sparkle. A Memorial Service will be held at a date to be announced.
