PALMYRA: Died on Monday, August 14, 2017 at the age of 72 with his family by his side. Jack was a decorated Viet Nam Veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a member of James R. Hickey American Legion Post 120 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6778. The funeral home proudly flies the United States Army flag in honor of Jack’s service to our country. Jack is survived by his wife Joan Verstringhe; daughters Jennifer Stewart and Cynthia Miner; son Timothy Miner; step-children Tad Manske, Joe Manske and Christopher Otten; sister Linda Wells; brothers Robert Miner and Paul Miner; grandchildren Micayla, Logan, Bishop, Jack, Jacob, Ciara, Colleen, Joshua, Andrew, Noah, and Addison; close friend Dave Farrell and many friends and extended family members. JUNIUS: Age 83, of Smith Rd., passed away Monday, August 14, 2017. Chuck was born September 6, 1933 in Junius, a son to the late Constant and Mattie Conklin DeWaele. He was a veteran of the Army from 1954-1956. Chuck retired from NYS Canal System in Lyons after 38 years of employment. He was a member of the Junius Fire Department and Moose Club in Palmyra. He is survived by his wife Doris (Schram) of 63 years; daughter, Jody (Ed) Bornheimer of Lyons; son, Mike (Kathy) DeWaele of Junius; grandchildren, Kevin (Kim) DeWaele, Stephanie (Cody) Weigand, Dillon Bornheimer (Jamie Blissenbach) and Jacob Bornheimer; great-grandchildren, Annaleigh DeWaele, Emily DeWaele and Penelope Weigand.

NEWARK: Age 103, died August 15, 20017 at Newark Manor Nursing Home, Newark NY. Iva was born February 7, 1914. She is survived by two daughters Joyce Smith of North Carolina and Awanda Brooks of Lydonville, NY. She leaves 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 53 great-great-children and 20 great-great-great children. There will be no services. FAIR HAVEN, NY: Died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at her favorite place, Fair Haven NY. She loved life. She experienced great pleasure on the back of the motorcycle with her other half. She loved music, especially the Blues. She also loved dancing and her Blue Moon. She retired after 33 years from the State Finger lakes DDSO as a program manager. She had a BA in Psychology and Education at the State University of New York at Oswego. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. Predeceased by her father Tange (Mickey) Williams. Survived by her other half Daryl Polakiewicz, mother Barbara Williams and many dear to her heart friends and relatives. To honor her a celebration of life will be at a later date. NEWARK: Dorothy Viola Spencer, age 77, died August 17th 2017. Daughter of Ethel and Andrew Clevenger (pre-deceased), loving wife of Harry Ross Spencer and mother, passed away after her battle with Alzheimer’s disease at the Newark Manor Nursing Home. She is survived by her husband, Harry and two children, Randy Ross Spencer and Cheryl Ann (Spencer) Henninger. She is also survived by two grandchildren (Jack Robert Henninger and Elizabeth Ann Henninger), a brother and sister-in-law, and six nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed bowling, embroidery and knitting. A memorial service will be held after cremation and urn burial in Marion, NY.

BROCKPORT/PALMYRA: Died on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the age of 62. Jim attended Palmyra-Macedon High School. He is a graduate of both Cortland University and SUNY Brockport. Jim started his career in education at SUNY Brockport followed by a long career of almost 23 years at Niagara Wheatfield High School as vice principal and athletic director. He worked many Section Five Basketball tournaments and was former president of NYS Coaches Association. He enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball teams including Brockport Little League and travel team. Jim loved watching both his sons play sports. He also loved playing sports himself. Jim was an excellent bowler and a member of the PBA. He was an enthusiastic golfer, basketball and baseball player and an avid fan of the New York Yankees. A beloved husband and loving father he will be sorely missed for his kindness, dependability, and strength. Predeceased by his father James J. Campbell and mother-in-law and father-in-law Irene and Gordon Marchionda. Jim is survived by wife Lisa L. Campbell (32 years); sons Steven (Christina) and Ryan Campbell; mother Carol E. PALMYRA: Died on Tues., Aug. 22, 2107 at the age of 89. Cecelia was born on Sept. 2, 1927 in Canandaigua, NY the daughter of Dewey and Bertha Brockelbank Herendeen. She married Harry White on Sept. 10, 1949 in Shortsville, NY. Cecelia had worked for several years at Garlock in Palmyra. She was a member of Western Presbyterian Church, the Women’s Association and was Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Cecelia is famous for her Ham Loaf which was a favorite at Rotary Lunches for many years. Cecelia was predeceased by her husband Harry; sister Dorothy Nessinger and brothers Jim, Floyd, Lyndon and Carl Herendeen. She is survived by her daughter Joan (John) DeFrees; son Robert (Toni) White; brother Glenn Herendeen; grandchildren Nathaniel and Caralyn White and Derek DeFrees and several nieces and nephews.
