LYONS: Age 77, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at Newark Wayne Community Hospital. Barb was born June 21, 1941 in Auburn, a daughter to the late William H. and Isabelle Fox Gifford. She loved to crochet, do needle point, ceramics and play cards.  She was predeceased by her husband Leland J. Herbst, brothers, Glen Fox and Albert Gifford, and sister, Pauline Abbott. SAVANNAH: Margaret Lacz, 88,  died Wednesday (August 1, 2018) at the Sodus Rehabilitation & Nursing. Margaret was born on August 1, 1930 in Cato, New York the daughter of the late Joseph and Anne Torst Buettner.  She had worked for many years in the custodial department at the Savannah Elementary School.  Margaret had also been a member of the Savannah Volunteer Fire Department Axillary. She is survived by two daughters Henny Lacz of Savannah and Laurie Crawford of Hilton; a son Eric Lacz in AZ; three sisters Anne Ball, Agnes Arliss and Patty Stevens all of Savannah. Jack was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, a snowmobiling.  He was a lifetime member of the Williamson Driftrider’s Snowmobile Club. He retired from Kodak after many years of service. Bob proudly served our country in the United States Army. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and brother.  He supported and enjoyed his grandchildren’s sporting events.  SODUS: Age 50, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Newark Wayne Community Hospital. She is survived by father, Al Gent of N. Rose; brother, David Gent of Sodus; sister, Donna Gent of Elmira; niece, Pam Gent of Oakfield; and a host of other relatives and friends. Tammy was a 25yr. member of the Sodus Volunteer Fire Dept and served as Fire Police Captain and Director for Sodus Fire Company Inc. She also was a 15+yr. member of the Sodus Town Emergency Council and served as Secretary for the Wayne County Fire Police Association. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. ONTARIO:  Skip passed away on July 27, 2018 at age 89.  He was predeceased by his wife, Lorraine Schimerhorn; son, Stephen.  Skip is survived by his daughters, Susan (Steven) Welker, Donna (James) VanCassele; grandchildren Carrie (Paul) Eldred, Christopher (Andrea) Welker, Michael (Doralynn) VanCassele, Katherine Welker; great grandchildren, Hannah Eldred, Evan VanCassele, Ryan Eldred and Owen VanCassele; sister, Jane Penders; several nieces and nephews. Skip loved watching and playing sports.  He was an avid Yankees, Celtics and Syracuse basketball fan.  Skip worked for Garlock Packing Company for 42 years. In retirement, Skip and Lorraine traveled with close friends to many places across the US. They enjoyed traveling with their grandchildren to amusement parks, Disney World, and Vermont. Their grandchildren say traveling with their grandparents is one of their favorite memories.  All are invited to attend a memorial service for Skip on Friday (August 17) at 11 AM in North Ontario United Methodist Church, 7200 Ontario Center Rd., Ontario, NY 14519.  Interment will be held in Furnaceville Cemetery. ONTARIO: (Born April 28, 1942 – Died August 5, 2018 @ 3:50 pm)   “27,858 days”. Passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018, at home surrounded by family and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Reginald F. & Pearl E. “Renwick” Higgins. He was the beloved husband of Daughn (Kelsey) Higgins, with whom he shared 56 years together.  In addition to his wife, Daughn, he is survived by his two daughters; Marjorie (Michael) Odle, Michelle Quigley; son, Reggie Higgins III; grandchildren, Kelly (Larry) Thayer, Jessica Dye, Scott (Ashley) Odle, Jamie Jabaut, David (Alexis) Odle, Jennell DeGelleke, Lisa Higgins and Jacob Odle; great grandchildren Kelsey, Collin, Robbie, Ricky, Ryan, Ashton, Caleb, Jordan, Isabella, Kiera, Joey, Jayson, Finn and Oliver. Born on Long Island, NY, Reg was raised in Cooperstown, NY and graduated from Cooperstown High School, class of 1960. He served our country through the US Navy, from 1960-1962.  Reggie graduated in 1964 with his associates degree from SUNY Cobleskill. He was recruited by Xerox and continued to work with them until his retirement in 1998 after 34 years of employment. Reg continued his education while working at Xerox at the Rochester Institute of Technology, graduating in 1971 with a bachelors degree. Reg was the longest sitting Town of Ontario Justice, 33 years.  He also officiated at many services of the  funerals for homeless;  however,  one of his favorite parts of the job were the many weddings he performed. He was a big brother, YMCA (10 years on board including volunteer of the year), Wayne Central School Board member (5 years), Lay Servant at the North Ontario United Methodist Church “Brick Church”, a member of the Republican Committee, NRA, Masonic Lodge, the  American Legion Post #428, and a long-standing member of Rotary. Reg Loved God, his wife, family, dogs, Country, Navy, Yankees, movies, BLUEGRASS and music…listening to music, recording music, singing, playing guitar, mandolin, bass, drums, steel guitar, dobro, and in the church choir.  He spent his entire life learning new things; including becoming involved with Lay Ministry at church, higher education, golf, tennis, judo, horror effects makeup, many assorted instruments, dog obedience training, schooling for work and recreation. He truly had a passion for trying new things and learning. He also loved traveling…Scotland, Ireland, New Zealand, Iceland, England, Germany, Japan, Most of the states in the USA, bluegrass festivals, dog shows, Grand Canyon, DC. He loved roller coasters, fairs and circuses. How do you sum up a man’s life? In deeds? in family? in words? in love? A private family visitation will be held on Thursday August 9, 2018, at the  Murphy Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 1961Ridge Road, Ontario NY.  All are welcome to join the family on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 11AM at the North Ontario United Methodist Church “Brick Church”, 7200 Ontario Center Road, Ontario, NY, for a service to celebrate the life of Reg. ONTARIO: Nancy was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on June 27, 1940 to her parents Harold and Albina Underwood (both deceased).  In 1953, her family relocated to Wallingford, Vermont, where she went to high school graduating at salutatorian.  She continued on to earn her bachelors degree at the University of Vermont in 1962 with a triple major in English, French and Education.  While there, she met and married her husband of nearly 58 years, Tom.  In 1961, their first son, Steven was born (now deceased).  Son, Robert, was born in 1963. The family moved to Rochester, NY in 1965 for job opportunities. Nancy first taught English in the Greece School system.  Resulting from employment changes, the family relocated to Ontario, NY in 1967.  Nancy taught English at Wayne Central High School, and simultaneously obtained her masters degree at SUNY Oswego in 1974.  Son, David, was born in 1968. In 1980, she left teaching and went into real estate sales.  The next year, she bought a company then called ERA Johncox Realty, subsequently called the property shop.  After many years, the company was sold to Nothnanagle Realtors.  Thereafter, she became an insurance adjuster, traveling throughout New York, the Northeast and as far as Texas, helping homeowners resolve property damage issues. Although she had several careers during her life and excelled at each, in her heart she was always the high school English teacher, in the classroom, with the students she loved. On the personal side, Nancy was a lifelong learner, an avid reader, a lover of music, a dedicated gardner and a curious cook. She was also very active in craft painting, counted cross stitch and in recent years watercolor painting. She was the wife and best friend of husband, Tom. A loving and protective mother of sons; Steven, Robert and David (Peggy).  In her later years, she was the doting grandmother of four endearing grandchildren; Austin, Jessica, Ethan and Elaina and 3 step-grandchildren; Katharine, Ian and David.  She had many caring friends and acquaintances in her life.  She is also survived by her sister; Patricia Connorton and many, many cousins. The family wishes to thank Lifetime Care, especially Jennifer Copenhagen, and the entire staff at Pines of Peace Comfort Car home for the warm, and caring support given to Nancy during the final stages of her illness. WOLCOTT: Age 77, of Route 89, passed away Monday, August 6, 2018 after an extended illness. Roger was born December 27, 1940 in Rochester, a son to late George and Rita Satter. He was a veteran of the US Marine’s and retired from Local 13 in Rochester as a pipe fitter. He was a member of Local 13 in Rochester for over 50 years, a member of the Wolcott American Legion and Wolcott VFW. Predeceased by sister, Barbara Satter. He is survived by his fiancé, Annie; 4 children, Laurie Betts (Glenn Bettini), Julie (Royal) Curtis, Suzanne (Alex) VanDamme and Michael (Jennifer) Satter; 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; brother, George Satter (Kathy Bentley); many nieces, nephews and extended family. WALWORTH: Carole (Chalk) Becker died on August 6 after a valiant stand against cancer. Carole is survived by her loving husband Roger, her children Jennifer (Paul) Molisani and Scott Furey. Her stepchildren Liz (Kurt) Brownell and Zack (Cherie) Becker. Her loving Grandchildren Autumn, Noah and Parker Molisani, James Furey, Luke and Chloe Brownell, and sister Betty (Bud) Pock; other family, Rebecca Bisio. Born and raised in Elmira, she was predeceased by her parents and brother Nick Chalk. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Elmira and Elmira College. A dedicated, teacher, she was passionate about her students and their needs both academically and socially. She ended her teaching career at Sodus High School. In her retirement she has enjoyed many friends and family and the occasional slot machine! She will be missed by all. The family wishes to thank the tremendous staff at Rochester General Hospital (5500 wing) and the caring staff at the Lipson Cancer Center as well as the staff at the Hildebrandt Hospice Center. LYONS: Kristina Alice Tierson, 57 entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Clifton Springs Hospital. Kristina was born the daughter of the late Howard and Alice (Barton) Teirson on Saturday, October 8, 1960 in Newark, NY. She was a graduate of Newark High School class of 1978 and then received a AAS Degree in Accounting. She then spent many years as a Lyons’ resident.  Kristina worked at Wayne ARC in many group homes. She enjoyed reading and had a special gift of love and companion for everyone. Kristina will be remembered by her husband, Michael R. Clingerman; son, Dustin (Danielle) DeCook; daughter, Tiffany (Stacey) Brown; grandson, Jaxson DeCook; granddaughter, due Dec. 25, 2018; step-daughter, Brittney Rose (Cory Carr) Clingerman; step-son, Michael Clingerman; step-granddaughter, Lillian Car; brother, Bruce (Sandy) Tierson; one nephew and two nieces; uncle and aunt, Vern (Rev.  NEWARK: Larry E. Briggs, 50, died Wednesday (August 8, 2018) at his home. Larry was born on January 14, 1968 in Newark, the son of Lawrence and Barbara DeSmith Pieters. He was a 1986 graduate of Newark High School and after high school, Larry served in the US Army for two years. He was a member of St. Michael Church. He has been working for the FLDDSO at the Peterman House in Seneca Falls. Larry was a kind giving person, who always thought of others before himself. He is survived by his mother Barbara Briggs; a brother Michael W. Briggs and nephew Michael J. Briggs of Newark; Special Aunt and Uncle, Irene and Bill Schusler of Newark; cousins Nancy Schusler, Lora (Andy) Prebalick and David (Becca) Schusler; many friends and co-workers. NEWARK: Gary  J. Williams, Sr., 77, died on Monday (August 7, 2018) at Strong Memorial Hospital. Gary was born June 29, 1941 in Newark, the son of the late Joseph and Alice Calus Williams. He was a graduate of Newark High School in 1959. Gary served  active duty in the Army from 1963 till 1965 where he was an auto mechanic. He remained in the Army Reserves for over twenty more years. He worked at AMSA 7 in Webster where he was also a auto mechanic. At one time, he had been a volunteer with the Fairville Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathryn, his children Gary Jr. (Kristin) of St Cloud, FL, Kevin  of Newark, Terry Jo (William) Koeberle of Palmyra and John (Roberta) Mann of Newark; his grandchildren Amanda, Kayla, Elizabeth, Erin, Amanda, Caitlin, ten great grandchildren; a sister Sylvia Verkey and three nephews. FORMERLY MARION, NY: Ann passed away peacefully on August 5th, 2018 at age 79. Ann was born in Tarrytown, NY to James P and Anna M. Brady. Ann is predeceased by her husband Michael A. DiLella, son Craig L. Chilton Jr., their only grandson Michael A. Corbo and sister June (Brady) Tonjes. Ann was an avid golfer and voracious reader with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed world traveling, the arts and playing bridge with friends. Ann is survived by her loving daughter Kimberly Chilton DiLella of Carlsbad, CA, son Scott D. (Debbie) Chilton of Dover, DE  sister Betty Fleischman of Palm Beach, FL and brothers James (Dale) Brady of Lyons, NY and John (Connie) Brady of Sedona, AZ., along with several loving nieces and  nephews.
