WOLCOTT: 86, a resident of the Wayne County Nursing Home for the last 5 years, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016, exactly 8 weeks after her husband Glen. They are now together as they had been for 69 years . The family thanks the staff at WCNH for her care and making her comfortable in her final days. They especially thank Patty Mull, who was with her in what would be her final hours tending to her needs, singing hymns, and telling her how much she was loved by her family. Betty was born on April 15, 1930. She met Glen while still in high school and married him in 1947. She raised four children and was active in the community for years. Besides managing the books for Glen’s service stations, she wore many hats. She taught Sunday School. She was a Girl Scout leader for years, which included many camping trips to Whistlewood with her scout troop. She was the treasurer of the Rose Baptist Church. And she was the President of the Baptist Woman’s Association and actively involved with them for years. She dedicated herself to taking care of Glen for 15 years after his stroke which enabled him to be at home on Powers Road, a home that they both loved and lived in for 35 years. But the hat she wore the most and best of all was as a Mom. She was there at every school event, sporting event, and extracurricular activity acting as cheerleader for her children and later her grandchildren. Betty will be sorely missed by her son Jeff (Rebecca) Mull of Hilton, NY, daughters Robin (Fred) Romano of Phoenix, AZ, Laurie (Frank) Petrosino of Newark, NY, and Lisa Galvin of Gahanna, Ohio, 8 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Animal Guardian Network, a 501(c)(3) charity in AZ that is dedicated to long-term care for sick and discarded domestic and farm animals and an organization that her daughter has been actively involved with since moving to AZ . Betty loved and cared for many family pets over the years and found them to be a tremendous source of comfort and peace for both Glen and her, especially later in life. Donations can be made on-line at animalguardiannetwork.org or mailed to 4815 E Carefree Highway. Ste. 108-504, Cave Creek, AZ 85331.
There will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at a later time at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been made with Farnsworth-Keysor Funeral Home, North Rose, NY.
