PALMYRA: Passed away on Saturday morning, September 9, 2017, at the age of 79, surrounded by her loved ones.  Betty was born in Rochester, NY on November 28, 1937 to the late Albert E. and Edna B. “Bills” Exton.  She is survived by her daughter Adora (Larry) Sherman of Potter, NY; brother, Albert (Lorie) Exton of Palmyra; grandchildren, Ashly (Ronnie) Wiggins and Alicia (Brandon) Hawkins; great grandchildren, Kallie, Shay, Sierra, Lillian, Tucker and another one on the way with the expected date of birth being March 3, 2018.  Betty was predeceased by her husbands Richard Minier, Anson Johnson and Lewis Johnson.

SODUS: Dacia Marie Hanagan left us on September 9, 2017 to be with her Papa Robert Lynch, grandfathers Carl Roloson and Thomas Hanagan at the age of 28. She is survived by loving, devoted parents Jeffery and Cathy Hanagan, caring brothers Sean and Brian (AJ) and very special niece Cassidy. Grandmothers Mary Roloson and Nancy (Hanagan) Lynch. Special family members Dia Cooper, Colleen Burnette and Sue Doyle, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Dacia was born a healthy, happy baby girl on 8/9/89 at 11:11p.m. Her struggles began 4 months later with a sudden illness. Dacia has kept many medical experts on their toes and proved them wrong many times. Dacia has shown strength and perseverance through her short life of 28 years and 1 month. Dacia’s joys in life were Disney, music, camping, sunshine, playing and being loved by Cassidy. Dacia paved the way at Sodus Central School as the first child with multiple disabilities in the classroom setting. She graduated at the age of 21. Dacia touched many lives with her presence and strength. Our hearts are broken and she will be forever missed by all who loved her.
Calling hours will be held at Norton’s Funeral Home in Sodus on Friday 9/15/17 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Memorial service Saturday 9/16/17 at 10 a.m. with burial immediately following at Sodus Rural Cemetery. CLYDE: “Clyde Business Owner” At age 86, on September 12, 2017, died peacefully at home of heart/lung failure. Predeceased by husband, Renald in 2006, and 6 siblings. She leaves behind her children Mike (Jackie) Robert, Julie (Rod) Riviello, Chris (Dan) Harter, John (Jill) Robert, Anne (Scott) Hewitt; 12 grandchildren, Danielle (Nate) Ostrowski, Corinne (Chris) Myshak, Michelle (Patrick) Norris, Dan Riviello, Jeff, Tom, & Zach Harter, Brian (Julie) Robert, Anthony Robert, Jeff, Tom, & Zach Harter, Nicole, Hannah, & Matt Hewitt. Also survived by 6 great grandchildren, siblings Ted, Connie & David Lamar, Trudy (Bob) Alessandra,and Betty (Ray) Smith; special sister-in-law, Claudette, dear friends Eleanor Polvino & Dan Ketchum, and many nieces and nephews. Jane was born in Governeur, NY, the third of twelve children. She married Renald (Ron) Robert in 1952, and they raised their five children in Rochester, NY, before relocating to Clyde, NY in 1974. Together with Ron, she owned and operated Clyde Hardware for 43 years. After her family, her customers were her life and she found great joy in helping others with household repairs, wallpapering, furniture refinishing, and cake decorating. She was an active member of the Clyde Chamber of Commerce, St John’s Catholic Church, and the Catholic Daughters. Gloria was a resident of New Orleans, LA where she lived with her husband, daughter and son-in-law. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and devoted to her family. HOSCHTON GA.: Age 69, formerly of Macedon, NY passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017. Maxine was born in Canandaigua, New York to the late Albert and Colleen Kimball Bauer. She was a nurse for 40 years. Maxine was a simple, caring person and loved gardening. Survivors include her husband David Rigglesford; son Mark Rigglesford and wife Erin; sisters Marlene Rowe and Linda Montanye; sisters in law Dorothy DiLuzio and husband Frank and Sue Brownell; granddaughters Patsy, Piper and Poppy; many other family and friends in New York. Christopher was employed at Dr. Pepper Snapple Group (Motts) in Williamson, NY. He was predeceased by his mother, Betty in 2004. NEWARK: Age 62 entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at her niece’s home with family by her side. Lynn was born the daughter of the late Earl and Katherine (VanBoxlaere) Langworthy on Saturday, May 7, 1955 in Rochester, NY. She had worked for Anaren Microwave Corp. in Syracuse, NY for 19 years then joined IEC Corp in Newark, NY for 12 years. With both companies, she worked on the assembly line with electronics. Lynn enjoyed crafts, reading and animals. Above everything else, Lynn loved spending time with family. Lynn will be remembered by her step-daughter Kimberly Edwards; step-son; Nickolas Barkley; three grandchildren; twin sister Linda DeWandel; brothers Paul Raymer, Lawrence (Bonnie) and Leonard (Kimberly Carol) Langworthy; many aunts including aunt Dawn, uncles, nieces including Marcia (Chris) Krauth and Tracy, nephews including Donald Hares and Chad and cousins; great great nephew Jacob Bartlett. SODUS: Passed on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Sodus Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his devoted wife, Hilda, loving son Gregory, brothers John and Robert LeRoy and his parents Howard and Aurelia. He is survived by: his grandchildren; Kevin (Kim) LeRoy, Julie Cruz, Destiny (fiancé Brad Backus) LeRoy, great-grandson Lucas LeRoy, brother Roger LeRoy, special nephew David (Janice) LeRoy, nieces, nephews, many good friends and a son Richard (Kim Klock) LeRoy. Louis was US Army Veteran and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was the former Business Manager for the Sodus Central School and later the Williamson Central School District.  Louis was a life member of the Sodus Post #910 of the American Legion. He was a longtime member of the Sodus Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. NEWARK/CLYDE: Age 68, of Church Street, Newark, died Saturday, September 16, 2017. Randy was born in Clifton Springs, August 29, 1949, son of Robert and Reva Fields Witter. He had attended school in Clyde and worked for U.S. Army Depot and Mobil Chemical Company in Macedon. He served in the Air Force in Vietnam, also the Philippines and Texas. He was a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion of Newark and a member of St. Michael’s in Newark. SODUS: Donald D. Johnson passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Wayne County Nursing Home at the age of 84. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Valerie (Midge), son Eric, daughter Susan (Joe) Rankin, cherished granddaughter Lauren Rankin, sisters Helen Verkey, Marion (George) Fletcher, Dorothy (Ken) Johnson and Virginia DeFisher, brother-in-law Stuart (Colleen) Perkins and many nieces, nephews and friends. Don was predeceased by his parents Edward and Leona, brothers Daniel, John and Richard, brothers-in-law Abe Verkey, Ed DeFisher and sister-in-law Melba Johnson. Don was a proud veteran of the US Army having served in Korea. For many years he was the manager of the Sodus office of Farm Credit. Later he was a Real Property Appraiser for the State of New York and was a business partner at Appraisal Consultants. He also was a former member of the Board of Directors of Wayne County ARC. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, OCTOBER 21 at 1 PM at the United Third Methodist Church in Sodus. A reception will follow the service at the Sodus Bay Heights Golf Club. Ackie worked for the Draft Board during the Korean War, Maxwell, Boden & Rice, Jackson & Perkins, Wayne County Social Services for 2 decades. She was a longtime worker for Caring Friends of Clyde & Wayne County. Ackie was active on the Parish Council for many terms, she was an active fundraiser & took care of the St. Michaels Flower Committee. She served on the Board of Catholic Charities, Red Cross Board, was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award & Wayne County Nursing Home Foundation Committee. SHORTSVILLE: Passed away on September 16, 2017 at the age of 53.  Jim was employed by Paychex where he had worked for 18 years. Previously, he had been employed by the Canandaigua VA in the Recreation Department.  Jim was an active member at St. Dominic Church/St. Peter’s Parish.  He was the  BSA Troop 39 Committee Chair, Vigil Member and adviser of the Order of the Arrow Tschipey Achtu Lodge. Jim enjoyed camping, hiking in the Adirondacks, fishing, and playing Euchre. Jim was born on January 22, 1964 in Canandaigua, NY.  Predeceased by his father Robert Baxter, Sr.  He is survived by his mother Julia Arcille (Denby) Baxter, wife of 22 years, Heather Cooke Baxter, sons Chayton James and Jared Michael Baxter, daughter Chenoa Grace Baxter, brothers Robert, Lance (Nadine), Ralph, Walter Brian, identical twin Albert (Jennifer) and sister Ruth (Frank) Gori, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Moss, Judith Ellen

SODUS: Age 78, passed away on Wednesday September 20, 2017 at Rochester General Hospital. She was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana on November 4, 1938. Judy received a Bachelors in Arts from Wooster College in 1961 and later her training certificate in Occupational Therapy. She lived for years in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands where she worked training dolphins. Later she moved to Wayne County, New York where she worked for Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Service Office. There, Judy piloted a program directed at the advancement of physical and mental development for young children. This program would receive national attention and recognition for its ground breaking work. Judy retired from the Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Service Office after years of service as a Registered Occupational Therapist in the State of New York. She became interested in and received her training in Polarity. She worked on a 3 year Polarity research program at Strong Memorial Hospital, sponsored by the Wilmot Cancer Center. Judy later worked at the Angelic Link in Rochester and would often take her skills to those who needed her help such as the Sisters of Saint Josephs in Rochester as well as traveling around the world. From New Zealand to the Karimabad in Hunza, Judy would apply her healing arts to all who asked. In addition to this work, Judy ran a farm and Bed and Breakfast from her home in Sodus. She raised goats, chickens, rabbits, and geese along with fruits and vegetables. Often her fresh produce was what she offered the guests that stayed at her Bed and Breakfast. Judy Moss was an early and strong advocate of an organic healthy lifestyle. She was a strong, independent woman who enjoyed traveling, meeting people and helping those in need wherever she could. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Judith Moss is survived by her nieces and nephews. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. LYONS: Mary Martha Collins Boice died peacefully holding her loving husband‘s hand surrounded by her family on September 16. 2017 in Lyons, New York. Mary was born on December 18, 1923 in Watertown, New York to Martha Mills and James Collins. She was predeceased by her brothers James and David. On August 17, 1946, Mary married Leland J. Boice and together they raised eight children. Mary was devoted to her husband of 71 years who survives. She is also survived by her children John (Sylvia), David (Kathleen). L. Jeffrey, Jane Cardullias, Martha (John) Lyons. Rebecca (Denn is) Kaniecki, Alvin (Colleen), Leland (Kendra) and Noriko (Dan) Takaguchi. Sixteen grandchildren were blessed to know her and she is equally adored as “GG” by her ten great-grandchildren. Mary’s life was defined by her love for her family and her commitment to service to others. She was a graduate of Kingston (NY) High School and Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. She served as a cadet nurse in the US Navy and continued her nursing career in Ithaca, New York and Lyons, New York. Mary left an impressive legacy of public service. She was the first woman elected as a trustee of the Village of Lyons in 1977. She was also the first woman to serve as Fire Commissioner. The Chamber of Commerce named her Citizen of the Year in 1979. Her contributions to her community included volunteering for Meals on Wheels, St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, The Lyons Heritage Society, Girl Scouts and the Lyons Public Library. Mary was an avid golfer, a talented ice skater and a great swimmer. She loved to play Bridge and read books, and enjoyed wildflowers and birds. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Friday, September 29 at the Boeheim-Pusateri Funeral Home, 77 William Street. Lyons, New York 14489. Mary’s life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on Saturday, September 30 at St. Michael’s Church, 3 Holley Street, Lyons, New York 14489. PALMYRA: Died on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the age of 92. Joe was born on April 20, 1925 in Albany, NY the son of George and Julia Babin. The funeral home proudly flies the United States Navy Flag in honor of his service to our country in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Joe loved animals, especially cats. He was the “Original Picker” and enjoyed scrapping and hunting for his next treasure. Joe is survived by his; daughter-in-law Alice Campman; grandchildren William (Dawn) Miller, Robert Johnson, Barbara (Shelton) Malone, Todd Kallner and Mary (William) Shutter and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother George Babin Jr. and lifelong companion Katherine Miller. A gathering to celebrate Joe’s life will be announced by the family.
