PALMYRA: Mary passed away on August 19, 2018 at age 89. She was born in Palmyra, NY to Peter and Susie Haak. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Fred Gardner; sister, Doris Rooze; brothers, Kenneth, Alvin and Art Orbaker; brothers-in-law, Tom and Dan Gardner; sisters-in-law, Dorothy VanHall and Shirley Rathiel. She was a member of the Palmyra VFW Ladies Auxiliary. NEWARK: Irene Ridley, 90 entered eternal rest on Monday, August 20, 2018, at Rochester General Hospital. Irene was born the daughter of the late James and Anna (Dous) DeCann on Wednesday, April 11, 1928, in Newark, NY. She spent her life in the Newark area, graduating from Newark High School class of 1945. During high school, she started working at Woolworths and worked her way up to store manager. At one point in her life, she sold real estate and eventually opened and ran an antique furniture store called “Town & Country Antiques” for 50 years. Irene enjoyed dancing and would do so, every chance she had. She also enjoyed going to car shows with her husband with one or both of their antique cars. Irene had a great sense of humor and loved to pick on people. Above all else, Irene loved her family and spending time with them. Irene will be remembered by her husband, Erling “Corky” Ridley; son, Kent Ridley; daughter, Melodie Ridley-Beman; granddaughter, Anna Beman; brother, James (Phyllis) DeCann; many nieces and nephews. LYONS: Formerly of Sodus, NY, passed away on August 20, 2018. Pitzeruse, Richard Anthony
MACEDON: Richard (Dick) Pitzeruse was a determined man. He suffered many complicated medical issues over the years, beginning with a year-long confinement for polio when he was 12. He kept fighting back against declining health- including a recent struggle with heart issues and complications. He stopped the struggle and said good-bye to family members on August 21st, and succumbed at 3:30 AM, August 22, 2018 at Crest Manor in Fairport, NY. He leaves a large family including; his wife, Arline; children Carol, Donald, Robin, and Linda; sister Phyllis; brother in law Chet, and 6 grandchildren (Michael, Don, Kevin, Angie, Kelly, Laura) and their spouses, 8 great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces and their families. He was pre-deceased by his mother and father, his brother, and two sisters. Family was Important to Dick. Dick was a fixture at McLouth Chevrolet, in Macedon, NY (which became VanBortel Chevrolet) having worked there in various capacities for 52 years, and likely no one in the area has a Chevrolet that Dick didn’t work on. NEWARK: Tammy Lewis, age 56, died Wednesday (August 22, 2018) at the Peace of Pine in Ontario. Tammy was born in Newark on August 31, 1961, the daughter of Robert and Lucile DeBoerdere Lee. She was a graduate of Jordon High School. At one time, she had worked at Mobil Chemical in Canandaigua and then Property Management for a few years. For the last several years, Tammy has been a cashier at Walmart. Tammy is survived by a son Kyle Lewis of Thomasville, NC; a grandson Max; her mother Lucile Decker of Lyons, three brothers Terry Lee of Marion, Mark (Kelly) Lee Fairville and Danny Lee of Denver, CO; two foster brothers Glenn (Bonnie) Sutton of Newark and Paul Sutton of WA; three nephews and two nieces. LYONS: David W. Chicoine, born April 9,1958, entered into eternal life on August 18, 2018. David loved his long career at Cornell University Experimental Station as a field technician and worked in Horticulture, Science, Enology, Entomology, Microbiology and Plant Pathology in both their individual viticulture and apple programs and loved the research aspect of it all. He enjoyed classes at Cornell University and Hobart & William Smith College. He was the first in his family to earn a degree (Assoc.) in Applied Science in Conservation. He volunteered with the NYS DEC Wildlife Biologists in different animal research and worked as an educator at the Audubon Education Center. He served on several committees including the planning committee for Audubon Education Building. He also volunteered at the front counter of the Montezuma National Wildlife Visitor Center and enjoyed a long-lasting friendship with Senator Mike Nozzolio. His love of the English language motivated him to write many articles for the Conservation Newsletter and Literacy volunteers of America where he served on committees, tutored ESL and adult basic literacy. He loved lobbying in Albany and was announced on the NYS House floor during one of their sessions. He also volunteered at the Humane Society and was a founding planning committee member. David also enjoyed working with residents of group homes at many different sites. He became interested in researching human biology and the study of its physiological aspects of medicine on the human body in connection with the University of Rochester Medical Center. David is survived by his wife Arthea (Crossley) Chicoine; stepson Pete; granddaughters Hailey, Nina and Cali; great niece Hannah Lynn Chicoine; great nephew Ryan Boshler; sister-in-law Florence Bullis and close friend Marvin Burkholder and family. He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Virginia Chicoine. His great love for God was evident as he encouraged others with his empathy and humor. RED CREEK: Age 22 son of Stacy Mata died unexpectedly on Friday, August 17. Rigo was a loving son and brother who made sure his family had everything they needed. He was the family comedian and he loved to smile and making other people especially children happy. He was the most genuine person who would give his last dollar to anyone who needed it. Rigo also loved his music and his friends. He is survived by his mother Stacy Mata, his sister Thalia Lopez, his brother Ruperto Mata, his sister in law Jordan S. LYONS/SAVANNAH: Ran the race and endured until the end, which came on August 23, 2018, at the age of 92. Carol was born in Ira, NY to Floyd and Esther Easton. She lived the majority of her life in Savannah, NY, then Lyons, NY for the last 10 years. Carol was best known for her unwavering faith, Savannah Salutations, being educated in the fine arts: playing the piano, violin, trombone, ukulele, and drawing, always remembering birthdays and sending cards for every occasion, baking chocolate cakes, rhubarb pie, and having a full cookie jar, always giving to those in need, supporting many worthy causes, and making everyone who crossed her path feel like family. PALMYRA: Died on Mon., Aug. 27, 2018 at the age of 94. Anna Marie was born on July 9, 1924 in Palmyra, NY the daughter of Cornelius and Loretta O’Keefe Tellier. She and Robert H. Nellis were married on November 15, 1947 in Lyons, New York. Anna Marie was a member of St. Anne’s Church and the Catholic Daughters of St. Anne’s. She retired from Garlock Inc. after more than forty years of employment. She was a Charter member of the James R. Hickey Post 120 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a member of VFW Post 6778 Auxiliary. Anna Marie was also a longtime member of the Palmyra Fire Dept. Auxiliary and had been very active with Palmyra Senior Citizens. In her spare time Anna Marie enjoyed golfing, bowling and crocheting. Mrs. Nellis was predeceased by her husband Robert on June 21, 2003; sisters Kathryn Van Damme and Isabella Rush and brother Edward Tellier. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Francis Rush, as well as, 8 nieces and nephews, and many special friends.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart, best friend, and husband, JD; she was a loving mother to 3 daughters, Chloe, Morgan and Olivia; her mother, Shanon (Rodney) Malbone; father, Charles (Lisa) Stoughtenger; siblings, Lisa Putman (Tommy), Jamie (Shawn) Davenport, Aaron (Marty) Malbone and Mary Stoughtenger (Frank); In-laws, John and Virginia (Ginny) Fowler; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends. Marcia was passionate about her work at Strong Memorial Hospital as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) in the gastroenterology and hepatology departments. She was hand-picked and jointly sponsored by the hospital and the school of nursing to pursue her doctoral studies. In 2017, she was nominated as cohort of DNP practice fellows, a group of nurse executives and lead nurse practitioners. Marcia was extremely involved with her daughters and would always be there to help them with school and sports. She always wanted the best for them. She loved biking & running, having competed in 5ks, half marathons, full marathons, triathlons and duathlons. Family time was most important to Marcia, whether boating on Sodus Bay, enjoying the Adirondack’s or traveling. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday (Sept. 1) 11 am at the Living Word Assembly of God, 2344 Ridge Rd., Ontario, NY 14519, with a reception for all to follow. MACEDON: Alfred passed away on August 28, 2018 at age 75. He was born on January 11, 1943 in Fulton, NY to the late Alfred and Rose Greco. Alfred was also predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Leuzzi. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Greco; sons, Randy (Ann Marie), Alfred (Lisa) and Steven (Lisa) Greco; grandchildren, Tatianna, Victoria, Isaac, Alyssa, Ryan, Hannah, Michael and Peyton; sister, Gayle (Eugene) Manley; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Al went to G. Ray Bodley High in Fulton, New York. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy becoming a crypto tech. While stationed in Trinidad he met and married the love of his life, Joyce “Peters” Greco. They were married for 55 years. Once completing his service, he worked for IBM for 30 years. After leaving IBM he opened his own IBM consulting business, AG Open Systems. Upon closing his business of 11 years he devoted his time to family and gardening. Al was an active member of the Rochester Philatelic Association and stamp dealer for 30 plus years.
